We traded a player who was leading the NL in WAR for most of the season for four years of a terrible pitcher and the #14 pitcher in the Cards system.

Give me a 1st round pick over Shelby Miller any fricking day.

WAR!

Good God, y'all!

What is it good for?

Why are we only scrapping the next two seasons? Let's get ahead of the game, and start building for 2020.

What do you want to bet?

If you think he gets under that AAV as a 25 year old next winter I will do a sig, avi, etc. for however long you want.

If he gets it, great for him. But if doesn't improve on his current level of production, I don't see it happening. His numbers don't warrant that kind of money. I'd throw some Brett Gardner type money at him right now but that's about it.

I don't even know how to do a sig/avi on this site, nor do I think I have it on for that matter, so I really don't care.

What are we scrapping? Shelby Miller is a major league pitcher. Sure, we'll need to find some offensive production somewhere and we now have additional funds to do so, but nothing about this trade screams that we are giving up on the next two years.

Yea I said I'm throw some Brett Gardner type money at him. 13 million dollars a year is as much as I'd go right now.

Yea but when we offload justin and gattis for prospects, then where does the offense come from?

Heyward has a career 127 wRC+. 120 in 2013 and 110 last year. How else would you characterize that if above average doesn't work for you?

I'm kinda old fashioned.

Corner out fielder.

11 HR.

58 RBI.

Average as corn bread.

Link?

I mean I'm all for a semi-rebuild, actually I encourage it because if we don't restock our system, then we're in bigger trouble than any of us even realize. But nothing the Braves have done up until this point have given any indication of that.

Obviously the power numbers have been disappointing. Still an above average hitter though in total. Not sure where you expected his RBIs to come from when you look at who the hitters around him were last year.

He will have more protection around him in STL so it should help him some.

The rumors have been flying about Gattis, and supposedly the asking price is "very high" (per Buster Olney on twitter). Unfortunately, I now think the Braves have a different idea of a high asking price than I do, given that they basically just handed Heyward to the Cardinals for a bag of cookies. There's a reason STL is always in the playoffs and usually in the NLCS, and it's partially because they sucker idiots like John Hart into trades like this.

You honestly think the Cards will resign a .262 hitter for $150 million or so at the end of next year?
