Not really

Well...this is interesting

Yes, because I think he'll hit better than .262 there. Heyward will finally start to maximize his potential at the plate in STL while Miller goes 12-11 with a 4.25 ERA.
ETA: I hope more than anyone else does that I'm wrong about Miller and this trade will be worth it in the end.

Well, Shelby Miller blows.. so in my eyes.

And I understand that. But do you really pay $15 mil per year in the future for a guy that takes up a traditionally big hitter position to play defense and risk injury?

Miller has #2 potential
He is soft, and needs a kick to the balls, but he has really good stuff. It's up to Shelby to maximize his potential. I think, and have thought since he had his issues last season with Matheny, needed a new start.
And Jenkins, if he can stay healthy, can be a solid #3 or #4 pitcher. He has major upside, his health is the detractor.
To say Braves got robbed is silly. You just got a cost controlled pitcher with talent. And a project with high ceiling if he can over come injuries.

Completely agree. That softness has to do with age and stubbornness though.
I'm laughing at these posts saying he was so bad he had to start throwing a sinker. That's called learning how to pitch you tards. He's going to be a really good pitcher someday, as long as he stays healthy.
The one knock I've always had besides his tendency to be soft, is that he's a tommy john time bomb.

Miller is 1 year removed from a 15-9 3.06 era season.
Matheny jedi, mind fricked him last year, by not even using him in playoffs. Then they had issues in Spring training, then later his best buddy, Joe Kelly is dealt. Fragile people, can let things affect them.
JD Drew was similar, when some one lit a fire under his arse, he would tear the fricking cover off the ball. When people let him sulk and be recluse, he would struggle and go into slumps and look really bad. Players would think he doesnt care, but it was just his personality, not that he didnt care.

Thankfully the Braves have an amazing talent at preventing Tommy John surgery. Hell, I can't remember the last time a Braves pitcher underwent the procedure!

The Cardinals know nothing about coaching pitchers.
Yet they're going to make Jason Heyward a 30 HR/120 RBI MVP Monster.
Didn't you know that?

Here's the other bright side. Atlanta doesn't have to face someone who was 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA against them last year.

Man, frick the Braves. frick the Cardinals too.

Yeah, I remember the days when Atlanta-Fulton County would sell out to watch Otis Nixon's defense.

Are we finally going to get a good hitting RF? I don't remember what that is like. At least we keep our best. Freeman obviously was more important.

Oh frick yes!
Have fun with Miller.
