I feel like Braves fans have to talk themselves into thinking he's a good player. Ok, so he covers a lot of ground in RF? Is that even that valuable when you hit like a 4th OF?
Not saying he's bad, but come on.

I really want them to trade JUp. The only players on the ML roster I would be mad to see traded are Freeman, Teheran and Wood.
The thing I really, really don't get is keeping Kimbrel.

I honestly think most Braves fans are just pissed off they made a deal with the Cardinals

Idk about Kimbrel but I understand what you are trying to say, I guess my response to that would depend on the answer to this question: what year do you expect the Braves to be legit contenders again? You can give a range of a couple of years if you need to

2017 seems to be the target with the new stadium.

The NL east is terrible. Why are yall calling this a rebuild? Get a grip, Braves fans

Braves offense is absolutely horrendous if you hadn't noticed. Heyward, as bad as you may think he is, was the team's 3rd best hitter. Bethancourt, Gosselin, Simmons, Johnson and BJ Upton are all God awful offensively.

I guess their thinking is Kimbrel is still pretty young and shutdown closers are hard to come by so when the time to win rolls back around he will be there to close games, just a guess idk
I do know finding a closer like Kimbrel is very hard to do

Gattis, Upton and freeman are the strongest trio of hitters of any team in the NL east. Would you not agree?

I'm not a Braves fan, but I still love Heyward. I'm just not sure what the upset Braves fans think they could have realistically gotten for a 1 year player.
Miller is a raging bitch but a young player who has proven he can be a good pitcher in the majors.

Personally, I feel like this was a pennies on the dollar panic move by Atlanta given Heyward's talent and the front office having no confidence that he would resign.

aying it's fairly certain thst he'll never be a 1-2 is writing him off from ever been a 1-2. Unless I'm reading that wrong.
A 25 year old with a 95mph fastball is hardly a finished product.
Not really man. Its not writing him off. Being a little pragmatic about his ceiling.
That 95 mph isnt consistent. Some nights its 95 and some nights its 90-91.
Like I said earlier. He could develop and change some things. He learns to be consistent with his off speed stuff and loses the attitude and finds the stamina to go deeper into games he may be able to fill out into a front end guy. Right now the Cardinals dont think thats the case and neither do I.

I guess, but the offense was really bad with those 3+Heyward last year. Replacing Heyward with Bethancourt just makes things worse.
Plus any value Gattis provides offensively will be negated by playing him in left field. He will likely be the worst defender in all of baseball if he plays 140 games in the outfield.
Both our offense and defense has gotten worse so far this offseason with these moves with the exception of catcher defense.
I think Upton will be dealt soon though. Maybe Gattis too.

I want to be mad about this trade because I have zero confidence in the Braves front office. Also, Heyward was one of my favorites. Coming out of the minors, I wanted him to be the face of the franchise, so I had not completely given up hope.
On the other hand, if this off-season is handled correctly, we just added, potentially, a really good starting pitcher. I'd much rather see Miller out there than Aaron Hurang.
That is IF this off-season is handled correctly.
You want to know why our young starting pitching has consistently under achieved when compared to their potential and "stuff"? Because we can't HIT THE frickING BASEBALL.
To sum it up, I am cautiously optimistic, and upset at the same time. WHO THE frick KNOWS WHAT TO FEEL.

I feel better seeing that come from you. You can fall in line with these average hitter lovers.

According to Jason, they never even contacted him about an extension.

It is about time the Braves stopped depending on that hack.

Braves meltdowns are the GOAT. I cherish these things & any Astros posts MSU makes.
