First time in history a 5.5 game lead was reduced to a 2.5 game lead in a single day

Cubs fans are starting to sweat. Imagine if they drop out of the wildcard.

8 series wins in a row. Take over first wildcard.

Cubbies are puckered and the Cards are going in dry. It has to hurt.

Im not puckered. I know the offense is just struggling, but is more than capable of scoring more than 1 per game.

Hopefully Murphy comes in and assfricks everyone else as bad as he has the Cubs over the last few years

Yep. Offense isn't going to struggle forever. Pitching has stepped up and that was the real issue. Once the bats get going again we'll be fine. Lots of games against sub .500 teams coming up including 7 straight at home.

That's kind of the issue right now. They are 2-3 against sub .500 teams in the last week. I think Murphy will turn the offense around though. He has started to get hot, and he's an incredibly tough out.

Absolutely, the talent is there...it's being wasted, there's no sense of urgency, it's like they are entitled and it will be handed to them.

Starting pitching finally comes around and now no one can hit. And Murphy coming in will probably cost the only guy who has been hitting consistently since the break...Zobrist, more PT than anyone else.

And Murphy probably is the only guy we could get that has less range than Zo.

They had 8 hits and 3 walks. They are getting on base but they aren't capitalizing on it

That's been a pretty consistent problem the last two years....RISP. KB struggled all last year badly with that and was again this year before the injury.

5 runs in 5 games...and against meh pitching really. That cannot be tolerated.

Sept 1st is what I saw, also said this is more of a rest period for the stretch run.

My guess too. I mean he just hit a dinger and was totally fine. Also thinking he feels the same now as he did 4 months ago, just finally have enough support for rest.

Cubbies schedule looks to be much more lenient than Cardinals the rest of the way.

For the Cardinals to make the playoffs considering the remaining schedule, there will definitely need to be so magic going on.

Saying that Daniel Murphy provided the spark makes me somewhat uncomfortable
