Cardinals are NL best 20-10 since the All Star break.
They have won 7 straight series.
They are an MLB best 14-4 in August.

So are you saying 8 games to 4 games in ~2 weeks is not coming?
Posted on 8/19/18 at 6:46 pm to UltimateHog
I'm saying that since this thread started the best team in the national league has lost 1 game to the team that is coming for them. Nothing more nothing less.

Someone should tell them to start playing like it then.

Cubs have seemed like a really weird arse team for awhile now, it's either terrible pitching and in their wins the offense carries them, and then it goes opposite with good pitching and terrible hitting like the Pirates series.
Maybe Bryant will jolt some life back into them.
I saw where Darvish called for the trainer after an inning in his first rehab start and asked for an MRI, that sounds bad.

Cubs fans are hilarious.
If the Cards gain a game a week they will be in first before the season ends.

Yu is a friggin head case. I've been against that signing from the outset.
Essentially trading Arrietta for him was a terrible decision. His presence in the clubhouse alone I feel is sorely missed.
While we still have Rizzo, there is a void in leadership on the pitching staff that Arrietta
left.
Then there's Chatwood, who I thought would extrapolate his numbers outside of Coors from last year.
Instead he's regressed to the point in which I'm wondering if he has any options left.
I'd rather have Alex Lange out there right now. He couldn't be any worse at finding the strike zone.

I told a friend of mine a month back, Darvish will never pitch in a Cub uniform again. I think the Cubs will end up trading him for next to nothing and eating a large percentage of that ridiculous contract (6 years?)and hopefully they learn a lesson there.
Dude is intimidated by the Cubs fans who actually expect something from him for what was paid him. Reports of him hiding out from fans and only coming out to warm up when there is minimal fan presence is very troubling. This is the big leagues, gotta be a big boy.

yeah, I would've liked to keep Jake if we could have gotten a 3-year deal, cause I think he's got maybe a year or two left of top shelf ball in him. But he wanted longer. Then what do the Cubs do....sign a guy the same age, with recent serious injury history and less post season success than Jake to a 6-year deal. Not smart business.

Funny, I was thinking exactly the same of Card fans.

They offered Jake 6/120 and he turned it down, still wanting to negotiate.

I knew they offered a fair deal to Jake...giving Jake 6 would have been very, very foolish as well..just not as foolish.
I'm honestly surprised Jake is doing as well as he is this year, and it's not like he's in contention for Cy Young but I don't see him pitching at even the level he is now past next year honestly.
Unwritten rule is you don't sign starters over 30 to long term contracts. Cubs apparently offered two and signed one who is scared to pitch and when he had this year was not good at all.

You realize the Cubs could realistically not make the playoffs
