That’s “Maserati Marv” to you, pal.
Put some respect on his name.

but they don’t develop them. They never seem to get better at OSU. What you see as a Fr is how they end their college career. Harrison is example #1.
WTF are you even talking about
Olave was a 3* recruit who turned into a first rounder
Garrett Wilson was awesome but was a first rounder
Jaxon Smith Njigba was in the 500s in the recruiting rankings when Hartline found him and is the all time leader in one season of receiving yards
Harrison Jr. absolutely got better - LSU fans just hate him because he won a meaningless award over LSU players. He wasn't even a top 10 WR in his class
Egbuka - Top player who developed into another first rounder
I mean how much more can a guy do than have Olave/Wilson/JSN/Harrison Jr/Egbuka be first rounders in the last 5 years to show development

They are very similiar.

Never forget he won the Biletnikoff Award in 2023.
It was that 25-yard performance against Rutgers that put him over the top. Or maybe the 30-yard output vs Minnesota.

They haven't taken lower ranked guys and turned them into high round picks at the position. Not really much to argue about there. Other schools (LSU, Alabama) have.

shite, even after that group of guys up there, the only other one that's done anything at OSU is Tate, and he was a 5 star and #3 WR in the class in '23.

The real answer is Chris Hilton.
He'll put up Jaylin Hyatt type numbers this year.

Should we go through and look at how many 5* WRs for other schools were not first rounders in those years?
In G. Wilson's year, Haselwood, Ford, Wease Jr and Pickens were the top 5 WRs.
3 of those 5 went undrafted and PIckens was a second rounder. So of the 5 guys who you would "expect" to go first round, only one did, and he was at OSU
Chris Olave was 68th ranked in the 247 composite at WR and a 3* ,8875
I just don't understand how anyone can say OSU hasn't developed WRs. Just because someone is a high ranked recruit in no way means they will be a first round draft pick.

If Milroe didn't forget how to complete a forward pass in the second half of last season, then Williams would probably have the same amount of hype.
But yeah, Smith is ridiculous, and I am excited to see what he does as well.

Maybe, but some of the Smith hype is just his insane overall measurables, that Williams doesn't have. Williams has that incredible spin move against UGA which is so good to watch over and over.
Also Smith was the best player for the team who won the NC

There is a lot that goes into why Ohio State has really good WRs, but one of the reasons is that Hartline is able to identify diamonds in the rough earlier than others.
Smith-Njigba is a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He is the country’s No. 288 overall prospect, the No. 59 wide receiver and the No. 36 prospect in Texas. In addition he had a less than stellar offer list that included TCU, Notre Dame, Cal, Arizona State, Colorado, Nebraska, Boston College, Baylor, Virginia and Nebraska before he picked the Buckeyes.

why would they do this if they just recruit the better players, throw the ball to them, and have them be 1st rounders?
so fricking dumb

Yea I remember when OSU offered and you could see his numbers in high school at one of the best divisions in all of HS football. He was clearly an incredible talent. Sophomore and Junior years he had 3100 yards and 29 TDs then his senior year had 2k+ and 34 TDs in 6A Texas. Just a "bit" undersized at only 6'1'' like 185. I remember all the recruiting sites had Demas who went to A&M ahead of him

Dude is electric. I like him and Jeremiyah Love at ND. Two talented dudes named Jeremiah.

I am sure he will have a great year, but I wonder if he might also be a little bored with college ball already. He probably would have been in the top half of the first round if he could have entered the draft this spring but has to wait two more years for the big bag. Probably has enough NIL money to do a lot of things more fun this summer than catching passes and bench pressing. Already has a natty.
It would take some maturity for someone in his position to stay completely locked in.
