What are you talking about? No teams or conferences are specifically pointed out in the auto-bid selection.
He is talking about next year when ND gets an auto bid.

FCS gets it right and has a true playoff, but FBS never will because of the money schools.
To expound on this, it’s not the elite schools, it’s the coattail riding programs that mooch off of the elites.
Why would Ole Miss and Miss St ever allow that when USM would have a better chance at the playoffs, year in and year out.

Even then, they wouldn’t point out Notre Dame, they’d have to have some stipulation like the 5th highest ranked conference champion or the highest ranked independent school.

Yea Virginia is still ranked higher. Kind of odd

Except that it does specifically point out Notre Dame. If they are ranked in the top 12 starting in 2026 they get an automatic playoff bid.

That’s wild and bullshite, I hadn’t read the story on that yet.
I think they will have more changes to the process this offseason, and it’s a MOU, which if we’ve learned anything from the college football coaching search is typically non-binding.

No it doesn't. The actual wording doesn't mention ND specifically, it applies to any independent school. So it would apply to UConn too or any other future teams that end up being independent. But yes, we all know it really only applies to ND because UConn is never sniffing the top 12 in football.

Notre Dame is one of, apparently, only 2 FBS independent teams, UConn being the other. Oregon State and Washington State still clinging to Pac (which expands next year).
So they must have reached out to ensure they are being considered, and as an independent they dont have a conference championship to lock in.

they were always going to try to throw the G5 a bone for some reason
I was told that if they didn’t, the antitrust lawsuit would end college football

Other conferences use rankings to help determine the conference championship, and the acc didnt, so they are really the only conference that this could realistically happen to
This is just 100% not true. The big10 and sec basically do the same thing the ACC does when it comes to tiebreakers.
Ole Miss and A&M were both ranked higher than Bama and yet not in the SECCG. The only reason they aren't complaining is bc they were a lock to be in the playoffs so it only benefits them to STFU

I would argue there should not be 1 team like Tulane or JMU in, the fact there are 2 is egregious and flat out stupid. Two teams get gimme first round wins.
