Can someone explain Louisiana HS classifications to me? What's this I-V?

I understand the traditional 5A-C, but what is this I-V? I have never heard of this. They don't compete in traditional classes?

What is a select school? 20 years ago we didn't have that, sorry.

Publics pretend they don't recruit and the privates only recruit so they play scared.

Letters are public schools
Roman numerals are private schools

there are some who claim the original mistake was made in the 1930s when they let public and private play against each other

Private schools wanted to play by different rules so they were kicked out and there is now a split. And they are still bitter.

nope
publics are the majority, publics make the rules.
privates played by the public’s rules and still beat them, so publics kicked them out

There were different set of rules for public and private especially when it dealt with if a player was eligible to play immediately or had to sit out a year or move to a new neighborhood/town to play at their new school. This is why the private schools were kicked out and now they play in the “everybody gets a purple ribbon league.” If they played by the same rules the split would have never happened.

I am shocked they are separate now. I figured the Parkview and Catholics of the world wouldn't try to avoid competition.

That’s complete nonsense.

Kind of... Scotlandville just was Div V and Liberty about to play in finals of Div IV..both public schools playing in Roman Numerals....but Madison Prep plays in 3A

Publics have always been a big majority of the LHSAA... they could have changed them anytime if they thought it was unfair

Select schools can have anyone outside their zone be eligible to go to school there
Non Select can’t do that so that is a competitive advantage

You know it is better to keep your mouth shut and be thought to be stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

How is that inaccurate? As long as it’s one school one vote (which is very unfair to districts that have consolidated), publics have a majority to make rules to their little hearts’ content. I think the count is way over the 66% they need to change the LHSAA constitution

Public’s which are select are more common than the inverse.
A magnet school with no enrollment zoning and a selective enrollment process (Scotlandville, Karr, Byrd) is considered select.
Madison Prep is the only private playing in the public brackets I am aware of and that is because they are open enrollment. Anyone who applies is accepted.

Literally all of those teams have played in the nonselect bracket before. Karr does and will even as a member of the Catholic League.
