A high pop up is hit to shallow right field. There is a 15-20mph wind blowing out. The right fielder is under the ball but mis-judges the strength of the wind. The ball falls to the ground behind the fielder.

Is this scored a hit?

Majority of the time it would be scored a hit.

He misjudged the ball, its an error.

If the fielder could have made the play with "ordinary effort", then it is an error.

This exact hypothetical is in the rulebook.

Braves get called for an out regardless of the end result.

Define an infield fly and explain how this situation is an infield fly. This should be good!

If he doesn't touch the ball most scorers call it a hit especially in the college game

MLB might be a little bit different

How the hell is this an infield fly? There is no mention of outs or baserunners.... it's a hit because fielder didn't touch ball

Oh okay, I thought you were serious when you said it was an infield fly.
