People need to figure out if they want women to be women, or women to be men in women’s meat suits.

I mean, if women are women, then I agree. They should conduct themselves like it, and we should hold them to that standard, but you can’t have it both ways. If you want them to play like men, then we can’t get mad when a darling gets abused on the court.

We simply need to make up our minds about who women are. Feminists….. You’re on the clock.

Whitlock just driving the white new balance trigger meter to an all turn high

OP you should add this. They are going to make Clark die on the court if they don’t protect her

Kinda sad. Dude was a respected journalist that had ESPN willing to give him his own website. Now he has to be parody of himself to try to get clicks. He's Skip Bayless without the career highs.

Weird thatTiger Woods wasn't treated like this when he came on tour. Can't put my finger on it.

golf is a no contact sport

all of his top competitors are paid well so there is no animosity about a new player getting insane sponsee deals and 99% of all media attention.

Before she steppped foot on a WNBA court, Clark got more media and fan attention and more endorsement deals than anyone in the WNBA. If you’ve played multiple seasons and feel like people don’t respect you than you’re going to have animosity towards the new golden child.

Compare that to Tiger Woods.
Other players already had lucrative endorsement deals. other players got paid well when they won. And yes he similarly was a Phenom, but he wasn’t a millionaire playing with guys making middle management money.

there is going to be a lot more animosity towards Clark than Tiger.

It’s partially racial for sure.

But there are other white girls in the league who get by fine.

You think all the other golfers were all like, “oh yea he’s great and he’s winning a lot but I got my money so whatever” ?

i’m sure some were jealous, but what are they gonna do, hit him with a fricking golf club?

It’s the same reason you dont see this in the NBA. the top players make money. They get tons of attention. The top WNBA players dont. So when they see someone get money and attentions 10x what even the best players get, that’s going to build animosity.

It's interesting seeing all the people trying to evade the racist attacks on Clark by dismissing them, ignoring them, and going after those that report on them. The girl is targeted in large part because of her race and many of you willfully ignore it, while at the same time insinuating others are racist.

Nike Has Refused the Caitlin Clark Windfall

The reasons for why Nike has so far sabotaged its unicorn opportunity

quote:

Nike, the apparel behemoth has majority male customers and has long craved similar success with women. Fortunately, they signed the woman to build a brand around. Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Caitlin Clark. Instead, in the early Clark Era, Nike’s stock has tanked over this span and the CEO just got ousted. By the way, though Clark got famous around 2022, if you want to buy her shoe, you could be waiting until 2026-27.

This is completely insane corporate malpractice and it’s being received as all very normal in the press that covers such matters. I read excuses about how much time and input is required to launch a shoe, as though LeBron James wasn’t playing in his own signature sneakers in his very first NBA game.

So, why did the overall business failure at the apparel giant happen?

Again, you just have to wonder about a company in struggling straits that seems almost apathetic about reaping box office gold. In the last couple years, the corporation has done little to capitalize on this absolute unicorn, even though the NIL era blessed them with the opportunity to get started when she was breaking college records as a household name.

There has been no Nike commercial for Clark as a pro. Now Clark’s Fever are in the WNBA playoffs, and she’s wearing Kobe’s sneakers, instead of her own signature brand. In summary, Nike lucked into the marketing chance of a generation and they’re using that to advertise an old product. Why is it happening this way?

As insane as it sounds, the corporate malpractice with Clark appears to be rooted in a concern about “fairness” and backlash from loud people on Twitter/X. It’s another instance of how, in the social media era, social incentives can override financial incentives. The economic imperative “Just Do It” was sacrificed to, “But we’ll get yelled at.”

When news broke in late April that Caitlin Clark was getting her own $28 million Nike deal, the result wasn’t merely met with a collective, “duh.” Instead we saw articles with titles like, “Caitlin Clark is reportedly getting her own shoe. Here’s why people are angry.”

LINK

The voices on the other side are the same old, hate the free marketplace crowd and base their views and another's $ worth, not on box office, sales,,appeal but....something owed and like the WNBA, financial equity, regardless if you don't move the TV dial...or often, as the case with Griner,,,,aggressively turn people away, (unless you're a Russian arms dealer).

Clark presumably just wants to ball and make money....Carpe Diem....no one complained when Jordan came in the League and got a bigger shoe deal than Magic and Bird who were MVPs....no one cried Nike's all-in promotion of Tiger while still at Stanford ("oh, he hasn't won on the PGA Tour, reality is coming" - Taurasi....

But Clark had the misfortune of entering the most militant DEI version of a sports league we have in America. The WNBA is FOUNDED not on worth BUT charity. Why would we expect anything less from the League and Clark haters who are clueless about value?

Was Carrington allowed to play game two with long fake nails?

Didn’t watch the game but am curious to know if the league took steps to prevent another “accidental” eye injury.
