This happens about 4 times a year for me (every major) but I have been looking online at finally springing for a set of my own.

Every time I've played I've used a friends set, or played with the clubs in the bag of the guy I am playing with.

I will start by saying I'm terrible at golf. About 1 out of 3 shots I will have a decent strike on the ball. Terrible with driver, and long irons (shocker).

What I am looking to do is buy a set of irons, and start going to the range after work everyday. No sense in buying drivers and woods right now as I mainly need to work on consistent ball striking.

I'm thinking I should shell out for decent clubs, instead of going and buying a hack set at dicks for 180 bucks. I have no problem paying a few hundred for a decent set of irons.

What would the MSB recommend?

I'm sure one day I will, but far to novice for that right now.

I've got friends that are respectable golfers that have taught me the basic technique to a successful golf swing.

Waiting until I can become more consistent and then look towards a few lessons.

Agreed.

But before you worry about hitting the ball with your driver and long irons, I'd suggest spending most of your time for a while on the putting/chipping green. If I was starting to play golf from scratch, I'd do nothing but short game for a long time.

Pardon my ignorance, but that seems pricey for a set of Adams golf clubs.

I was looking at a set of new Taylormade Burner 2.0 irons (4-AW) for 330. I've seen good reviews on the clubs.

Would like to know if anyone has played with these, and also if I should look at a less expensive set to start with.

ETA: I have a friend that has been playing with his dads ping eyes for probably 15 years. Thats why I am looking at just springing for good clubs that I can play with for the foreseeable future.

Nah, Adams is pretty damn legit. I love their hybrids, but hated the short irons when I had a set of them. Bulky as shite.

See what you can buy burner 1.0 for

I had them and they are damn near the same, but 330 is a good price none the less

Just curious as to how much you are looking for and what clubs it contains?

I, too, am just starting to play. I found a used set of Adams idea hybrids on global golf for $99. The website said they were in good condition. And they are. Seem to have barely been used. Now if I could just figure out how to hit it straight more than 2/10

Adams are great clubs, I've been playing the driver and hybrid for awhile now. Driver I've been playing since the 9032LS, playing the Fast12LS now.

And they were just bought out by Taylormade for the technology

I have an OG set I'll sell for 100 plus shipping. I'll throw in some wedges and a putter as well as a bag. You'll need to replace the grips.

It's a 4-PW set, black dot, reg flex AWT shafts. I'll take $350. Cheaper than similar sets on ebay. I'd rate them like 7.5, maybe 8, definitely 8+ on the longer irons.

I would possibly be interested if I knew what dot would cater to me.

I got a great deal on clubs on Craiglist. It's a great place to look for used clubs and golf equipment.
