AUSTIN (KXAN) — Earlier this year, Austin became home to its first professional sports franchise when Austin FC kicked off its inaugural Major League Soccer season. But now, a report from ESPN says that a different kind of pro football team could call Central Texas home.

According to a tweet from Seth Wickersham, a writer at ESPN.com, the NFL’s Buffalo Bills are considering a move to Austin as a leverage play to get public funding for a new, $1.5 billion stadium. The Buffalo News reports team owners are asking taxpayers to pay for 100% of the new stadium.

“An ownership source tells me that Austin is a possible destination – or threat – as one of the ‘other cities elsewhere that desire an NFL franchise and would pay handsomely for it,'” Wickersham’s tweet reads.

I would think Jerrah and Mrs. McNair would wage a joint effort to destroy that.

Yup. This is bullshite. I wonder who leaked it. Bills owners also own the Sabres and other minor league teams nearby. They are from the area.

But they'll be moving to Austin over Jerry's dead body.

The Bills are currently the only NFL team in the state of NY. Their stadium is horrible, but if they move to Austin, I would pull against them in almost every game they play.

frick that.

The Bills belong in Buffalo, but extorting 1.5 billion dollars to keep them there is bullshite. We need to find a better way to shut down this absurd practice of publicly funded stadiums. It’s little more than legal extortion.

Now let’s see just how stupid Bills fans are. No way anybody should be paying taxes for new stadiums in that POS league right now.

I hope Buffalo doesn't cave. The new Falcons stadium went $600 million over budget and will end up costing taxpayers $700 million (the $200 million figure is BS).

I mean it, this is a carbon copy of what Art Modell did to Cleveland. Everybody said no way he’d move the team. Take this threat seriously. The Bills fan base should be very nervous.

I would say the people are wising up to sports' bullshite and they could fight it but in the big cities it's the same retarded Dim's, so frick em, let them pay for it and have the owners lose money in a declining market.
