What are some common interests? Validate his interests and counter with the common interests. It’s like verbal judo. But it’s basic friend maintenance.

Start texting them about the Rangers all the time. It’ll piss them off enough to maybe stop texted you about the Astros.

Astros* are garbage and cannot win without banging on trash cans or using buzzers. Astros are becoming a “meh” franchise, but I still hate the Astros*

How close of a buddy?
My two (probably best) friends and I always texting LSU sports and our favorite same teams. They would know not to text me about a team I don’t like.
And even if they did, I would jokingly tell them to stop texting me about the damn Astros
