Probably getting close to the point where a major TV station will pick the tour up. Almost have to.

Even the USFL has both NBC and FOX on board. Amazing. I think they would have had FOX already had Phil not suffered his verbal meltdown. But it seems just a matter of time with this much star power and momentum.

The problem is all of the major networks, and their overlords, are all in the pocket of the PGA. The exceptions are Bally, and big FOX. FOX tried golf already, and failed miserably. Would Rupert Murdoch, and his world wide affiliates be willing to try again. If it's financed by the Saudis, and not offered as a broadcast right, FOX might mske a go of it.

Once rickie goes, this tournament will see a solid following. I dont think people realize how many followers rickie has.
Rickie’s spotlight has to be dimming as he turns into a fat, sloppy looking midget who sucks at golf.

And the little Irish dude this afternoon on the golf channel basically just described Bryson and Reed as has been. Major winners in their 20s?

They may be doing the PGA bidding with this type of negative propaganda but I suspect the PGA players listen to this garbage as well and may take exception to this mud throwing and name-calling.
So far, it’s easy to see why the bigger names have jumped.

DJ is 40, doesn’t love golf all that much, and probably holds some resentment towards the tour as is. Whether that’s reporters questioning him about being mentally slow and drug use or rules that have cost him tournaments or whatever happened that time at the Masters when he “fell.” Easy to see why he took Tiger’s career winnings and noped off to LIV.

Similar for Reed. They probably doubled his career earnings and nobody likes him so he’s saying frick everyone I’m out.

Same with Bryson but more importantly, his entire professional life has revolved around changing the game as much as possible. Here’s his chance and he’ll probably have some influence on new ideas.

The rest are either old and washed or short hitters who legitimately only have about 4 chances a year to compete on the PGA Tour.

Everyone who has joined so far has had pretty good reasons even outside of the crazy money.

DJ is 37. And the last tourney DeChambeau played in covered every shot he took. Even when he was 10 over. Now, why would the network do that for any other reason than popularity?

Rickie makes more money off the course than any golfer not named Tiger or Phil. He's sucked at golf the past 2 years but he's still very very popular. But I do think his move may have something to do with his underperformance on tour and trying to cash in on guaranteed money while he's still relevant and desirable

I have majors in my area, and I still love this

Do you attend regular PGA Tour events? Do you attend the majors, and unless youre near Augusta, you at best have a tournament every couple years that is not a tour event.

I think thay still fits my comment.

NY Post is reporting DeChambeau has signed for $100 million.

If Fowler signs, the 2 biggest names in Cobra/Puma's stable have left the PGA Tour.

This is like WCW stealing all of WWF'w giant names in the 1990s all over again.

PGA Tour has also pissed off a lot of fans by essentially banning all events at Trump-owned courses.

They literally pulled the PGA from Bedminster, a wonderful and historical course, for that shite show they played a few weeks ago.

They have also taken Doral and the Blue Monster off the tour completely and moved that weekend's event to.... Mexico...

Doral is one of the best courses in the world, espdcilaly after Trump Organization came in and refurbished it. The players loved it, plus it was in Florida, where essentially all the players live and they could get to it extremely easily. Now, they have to go to f-ing Mexico City instead.

If LIV gets a TV deal and keeps most all of their events in the western hemisphere and Western Europe, then they have a legit shot at really really hurting the PGA Tour.

The big netowrks, however, are all tied to the PGA, so I doubt they touch these broadcasts.

The LIV format sounds a lot more entertaining. I’ll check out their first tournament.

8 events, all 3 rounds instead of 4, players all tee off at the exact same time so the day is much shorter for them all....

Oh, and making more in these 8 events than you could ever make in a career on the Tour, how the hell could you blame them for going.

PGA screwed up not just letting these guys take some time off to go play in these events, which would have fallen under the radar by most. Now, it is a top story on ESPN/Sports Radio/etc EVERY DAY.

I don't care about the shotgun start, but 54 hole events, and that stupid team shite is queer

Shotgun start is awesome. Also means you can catch the whole day in 4 hours of watching. Everyone makes the cut too, which I also like.

The team event does seem meh, but I believe only 1 event will actually be teams vs teams with no individual play. The other 7 events it’s just an added component to pay the winning teams some more money.

Can’t decide if I like the captains drafting or not. We will see how that plays out

Guys, pull your heads out of your asses. The reality is the pga tour doesn’t pay shite! Most of these guys are making way more from endorsements and what not then the tour. The reality is if LIV is paying by more money (and btw it’s WAY more) AND the guys can stay popular and keep endorsements then…..why they hell not?
