Its funny because I haven't been back there in like 8 years either, and I usually couldn't give two shits. This new guy just pissed me off for some reason.

VERY true...also the only place I have ever been in the country where two people will ask each other what high school they went to if meeting for the first time.

I'm not the one on here crying because Rummel is a great school. Yeah, I'm sorry the Archdiocese of New Orleans built a school in Metairie in 1962 to take advantage of all the wealthy people moving out of Orleans into the suburbs of Jefferson. Blame it on demographics. Today, Jefferson Parish has a median household income of $47,366 -- much higher than the state average of $40,866 -- and much higher than that of Orleans parish ($37,348).

I agree with all this. New Orleans is a pretty unique place.

Dude I came on here because you were spouting unfounded shite about Brother Martin... that's all....I'm going to go on living the rest of my life now. HOWEVER, if you would like to do a breakdown of each neighborhood in the greater new orleans area and how its mean household income affects the Catholic school in closest proximity knock yourself the hell out.

and yes I LOVE NOLA...lets end it there

Same reason I started talking smack. You had that Brother Martin person running his mouth trying to belittle Rummel. Everybody who is proud of their high school is going to talk smack when they see people from a competing high school claim superiority. You're proud to go have gone to Brother Martin. I'm proud to have gone to Rummel. Cool.

I'd be cool with my kids going to either school... and like I said, some of my best friends went to Brother Martin, and my sister is marrying a Brother Martin grad (and I like him a lot). We've never played the "my school is better than your school" thing... we've always had mutual respect.

Speaking of public schools, Rummel and Brother Martin have shared a common opponent this season: O. Perry Walker.

Brother Martin (5-0) beat them 18-14 with 1:30 to play at Tad Gormley Stadium.

Rummel (5-0) beat them 23-0 at Joe Yenni Stadium (although it was closer than the score indicated... Walker had 80 yards, Rummel 128).

Brother Martin is currently riding a regular-season winning streak of 13 games, including beating Rummel 14-9 in the last game of the regular season last year. In that game, undefeated Rummel (8-0 at the time) went up by a score of 9-0, and then undefeated Brother Martin (7-0 at the time) came back and scored 14 to take the lead with 8:36 to go in the game. Rummel responded by driving all the way down to the Brother Martin 6, where Brother Martin got an interception on 3rd down to preserve the victory.

Wow. You are either very much full of shite or don't have a clue what you're talking about. Which one is it?

In the early 2000s, one of my friends was a good football player coming out of grammer school, and got to go to Rummel for free. He wasn't smart, so it wasn't an academic scholarship..maybe they changed the rule since then, or they labeled his scholarship as an academic one?

you cant go to Rummel for free. They have academic scholarships, which arent paid in full, and they have a work study program where u can do work around campus to get a small amount of money cut off of tuition

So no athletic scholarships?? When I went to an open house for BM years ago, a dad asked if BM had athletic scholarships because Rummel offered them. Maybe he was full of shite? Or maybe they did then? Or maybe I'm right?

probaby 15-20 minutes at that time of the day.

can flank it via River Road to Causeway or ride up St Charles to the I-10 and go to Causeway. Prob easier the first way

I just got off the phone with a friend whose brother got offered a scholarship from Rummel 5 years ago (he was a good football player, and currently runs track for D1). He said schools aren't supposed to offer athletic scholarships, but sure enough, Rummel offered him one (Didn't take it).

Apparently I'm not full of shite

I have proof..you have jack shite. Rummel was trying to get a potential athlete that otherwise wouldn't attend that school by offering him something other schools do not. Facts sucks sometimes, huh?
