re: Bronny James proves the NBA is a complete joke and I'm so happy I quit watching years ago!

I'm only pissed off that Boston didn't do the funniest thing possible, and draft Bronny 1 pick before the Lakers. That would've been the greatest troll in the history of sports.
Lebron would have been happy his son went to the World Champions… that rivalry ended when Bird and Magic retired

As a result, those college basketball players that truly have the talent to play in the NBA, won't be given that opportunity to fulfill those dreams because of Daddy James!
Bronny getting drafted is a joke and he's not an NBA player. His dad set him up for failure because he's selfish. That being said, here are the 55th picks for the past 10 years, that according to you, "truly have the talent to play in the NBA".
23 - Isaiah Wong
22 - Gui Santos
21 - Aaron Wiggins
20 - Jay Scrubb
19 - Kyle Guy
18 - Arnoldas Kulboka
17 - Nigel Williams Goss
16 - Marcus Paige
15 - Cady Lalanne
14 - Semaj Chrison
There is literally one guy that was a bottom of the bench player in the past 10 years. And if you keep going it's just as bad. This was a crappy draft class, the 55th pick wasn't going to be an NBA player anyway. That part of your argument holds no water.

some of y'all melt over the stupidest shite, i swear
if you quit watching years ago, how in the frick does this truly affect your life in any way, shape, or form NOW? either you didn't actually quit watching/caring about the NBA, or this is some sort of weird faux outrage, either way it's a weird hill to die on, bro.... do better

I'm pretty sure the World Champions had better ideas than to draft a guy that will never see the floor just to "troll". WTF.
You do know that some team take the draft serious and want to make their teams better?
How in the hell did you take that post seriously? That couldn't be a more obvious joke.

So it bothers you that everyone is laughing at the Lakers and how terrible of an org it is?

The worst part about Bronny wasn’t that he was drafted but guaranteeing him the money they did. That made no sense
Posted on 7/8/24 at 6:57 pm to SwampyWaters
I love hating on the NBA. Its a garbage product currently.

We're just haters. It's fun.

They deserve a shot at the NBA before Bronny.
Those guys on your list were elite players in college or solid contributors on the international scene. Bronny is nowhere near as good as those guys, let alone meriting a guaranteed contract. All your post shows is that there's a great college player whose draft spot went to a 4 PPG player on a middling team.

That shouldn't be the standard. Why have a draft then? If we're saying "they'll never play in the league anyway", then why not draft a college walk-on who never saw the floor?

The 55th pick almost never makes a team. They are worthless
Bronny as the 55th pick guaranteed a team to get a top 10 player in the
He is arguably the most valuable 55th pick ever

Im almost certain with that and him taking the max it pushed them over the 2nd apron which would be glorious

What's crazier is the league minimum is basically $1 mil.
They extend old man James to the max, draft his Division III caliber talent son and then give him an $8 million contract.
Last years #55 pick, Isiah Wong signed a two-way contract worth $559,782, but under new CBA rules, it is only partially guaranteed if the player secures a regular-season roster spot.

The minimum rises yearly so a 4 yr contract at the minimum isn't just 1.1 mil times 4.

According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, James was eligible for a two-year, $104 million extension, but he took only $101.35 million instead. In doing so, he helped ensure the Lakers stayed below the second apron — aka, the league’s new worst nightmare — by… drumroll, please… $45,000!
What a stand up guy!
