Nothing. If the Browns like one of them to draft in the first they still will. Osweiller isn't the long term solution for Cleveland.

Because osweiler is that bad. I wouldn't want him anywhere near my team

gee Houston who in the world could have possibly seen that it was a horrific idea to give a QB that looked absolutely dreadful for a talented team a big contract. Shocking this didn't work out

Yeah, from the likes of it, they'll probably flip him for more picks

The Browns are angling for the 2018 draft when there will be better QB prospects. They can package these picks and players to maybe move up higher in the first round of the 2018 draft. They are playing moneyball with NBA trades in the NFL.

It's all about collecting assets. I don't think anyone in the Brown's organization believes they are winning a super bowl this upcoming season. They can get rid of him after this year and basically get a free 2nd round pick out of the deal.

From what I understand, the #Browns are weighing simply releasing Brock Osweiler after trading for him. NBA style

Actually its a pretty smart move by them.

They have a HUGE amount of cap space over the next few years and free agents really don't want to go there. They have a hard time even meeting the salary floor.

They got a 2nd round pick for taking on salary. Their current strategy is just to just acquire and draft as many players as possible.

Thanks for the info. Looks like it was a good move for both. I thought the Browns just Brownsed it up in my excitement of getting rid of Brock.

If Browns can't work out trade, they will cut Osweiler. One source tells me "more likely than not" he is released today.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Browns are considering releasing Brock Osweiler.

This report comes just 20 minutes after the Browns acquired Osweiler from Houston in a bombshell trade nobody saw coming. It looks like there's a good chance Osweiler will never play a down for Cleveland as the Browns will simply absorb his $16 million salary and move on. Cleveland has all the cap space in the world so the $16 million hit isn't a big deterrent. Perhaps the Browns will package their first-round pick with the 2018 second-rounder they just received from Houston in a trade for Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo.

If someone picks up Osweiler, do the Browns have to pay him less/less against the cap?

Not that it matters, they have a bunch of flexibility for both. Just curious. If they needed a backup he could at least be serviceable if they gain nothing from a release.
