Noting that she did not mention America when she said "....without the protection of my wife, family, friends, Olympic jersey or any other accomplishments ..". As in her Olympic jersey means more than her country.

She protested against the flag and had comments about being against the national anthem. She didn't say the US was racist or evil, whomever claimed that is incorrect.

This is not a complicated sequence of events. Actions have consequences in the real world. This is where the naive people of this country realize how unbelievably sheltered and protected people in this country are despite how oppressed they want to claim to be.
it doesn’t mean she deserves to rot in a Russian prison as a political prisoner.

I'm all for actions have consequences but at the same time it's a pretty insane consequence.

To you, her and whoever it may be an insane consequence, but she knew the law and the potentially insane consequence and yet still did it. Why? Because she thinks as Brittney Griner that she is above those consequences.
If I go to Iran and steal something, the consequence is to lose my hand. Regardless of what my opinion of the severity of the consequence.

I doubt that. She's like 1% more famous than you and I. She probably just did it because she's an idiot.

quote:It is. The thing is she chose to start playing in Russia because of the preferential treatment they give to female athletes over there. This is the other side of that same coin. If you're willing to take the good of Russia, you don't get to skirt around the bad. This is a mess she made herself willingly. In no way is this worth trading some Russian military spy away to prevent. Nor should it be America's problem in general.
it's a pretty insane consequence.

Oh God no, that shouldn't be on the table as a possibility.

Oh, well then it totally seems reasonable to “hope to god” that she stay over there for 10 years.

Right that seems to be on the extreme end of the spectrum. I think most people are more along the lines of "no sympathy for her" moreso than outright hoping she spends a decade in the gulag.
Posted on 7/5/22 at 12:16 pm to bbap
I don’t have any sympathy for her, either. She has no one to blame but herself.
I just think the people who are celebrating her being there and hope she stays are shitty human beings.

I don’t care if she comes home or stays there in prison. I’m violently ambivalent.

Says the clown that thinks we should exchange military assets for this dumbass that BROKE THE LAW in a foreign country.
You and her have a serious issue with self awareness.

It'd be a travesty to have her "released" and the woke American media will hail her as an American hero, even though she's been anti American prior to arrest.
Would be a slap in the face for all real Americans.

I’m just shocked that some Mainstream Media outlet hasn't filed some sort of emergency petition with the Russian judicial system to find out what Britney’s opinion is on the overturning of the Roe v. Wade decision.

True. There's a hefty fricking fee.
And if you won't pay that $1.05, who will??
