quote:I don't know shite about the laws around this, but is that really discrmination? It seems NYG had their guy and was just trying to satisfy a rule. So like you said, they may have broken the Rooney Rule, which isn't a law. But did they really break a law?
I think His point is that he was interviewed solely because of the color of his skin and never had an actual shot

I don’t think that Flores is saying the Rooney rule was broken. I mean the Rooney rule is an NFL rule, not an actual law.

Well, then get rid of the Rooney Rule
As long as you have ridiculous rules like the Rooney Rule, you'll have organizations that interview candidates just to satisfy the rule.

@DustinGouker
In all seriousness and stating the obvious, but the NFL has a serious problem vis a vis gambling if one owner is trying to pay a coach to lose. That is a large problem, even moreso while the league is profiting directly from gambling on its games.

What law would that be?

And? That’s what happens when you have something like the Rooney rule.
Also we have a sitting president that has openly inferred he’s only going to consider an AA woman for a soon to be open job and the media isn’t in a tizzy about that. All the talking heads can spare me their BS.
The biggest whoa thing in this should be the alleged pay to tank by the dolphins and the Brady thing in 19

But if Brian Flores wasn’t gonna get a legit interview what minority coach was? He’s a legit great candidate

If you want to say NYG can just deny it and maybe get away with it, sure.
But there's no way NYG can go be investigated for this, and say, "Sure we knew we were going to hire Daboll before we satisfied the Rooney Rule"
I'm just saying that they can say that Daboll was the "favorite" to get the job, but things are always fluid until they are official.

the 2 main bombshells IMO are:
1) Ross offering $100k/loss (under the table, i'm assuming). if this can be proven, (big IF), then it would be a legal issue also
2) ross encouraging tampering to recruit a QB who is under contract w/ a different NFL team
dolphins forums are saying that it could lead to loss of draft picks and ross potentially having to sell the team, IFFF these claims can be proven

Until he's officially hired, things can change. Is it against the rules to have a favorite during the hiring process?
No that isn’t against the rule
What is against the rules, is unofficially making your hire while you sift through the minimum requirement interviews. Now I’m sure it still happens all the time, but if you can prove that it happened, then it’s a clear violation of the rule
Which the debate will be whether these texts and any other info he may have equates to enough proof that this is what happened, but your entire premise of saying “it doesn’t matter because he hasn’t officially been hired yet” doesn’t make any sense

The big thing here is being offered money to lose. If proven I have no idea how the NFL can let Stephen Ross keep the team

The NFL is a small league (in the grand scheme of things) they likely had already made a decision about who they wanted to hire before they interviewed anyone, it's absurd that they have to fake interview a minority just to satisfy a ridiculous rule.

Now he’s saying he was offered 100,000 per loss in 2019 to improve draft position
Someone link…I’m driving lol
Hey, if true it worked for the Bengals, Miami could have had Burrow if they started Rosen the whole season and tanked properly, Flores went with Fitzpatrick.

Absolutely. Will be hard to prove though unless the idot like sent him a text or email

Question: what was the Dolphins interview process like when they hired Flores? Did they just token interview another minority candidate knowing they were gonna hire Flores? Did Flores know he was getting the job before the 2nd minority was interviewed?

My point is that until it's official, how do you prove it.
Posted on 2/1/22 at 4:47 pm to shel311
yup
the giants/racial aspects of this lawsuit are nothing compared to whether the tampering + tanking issues

Well, in Flores’s opinion you prove it by showing a text message from BB before your interview.
A judge will ultimately decide whether that is enough. Thus, the lawsuit
