Copper Mill is in Zachary.
It's a gimmick layout 6-6-6 (Some good holes but the sum is less than the parts.)
Copper Mill is a $50 fee course.
The drive is ridiculous if you live in South BR or LP.
I'd rather play Beaver Creek if I was driving out there.

Im not arguing the quality of the course
All Im saying is raising the price of your green fee to deter roughly %30-40(no stats here, assuming) of your clientele is probably a bad idea.
ETA: I agree SM is a bad arse course, and well worth the $50 they charge

I played once, but tried twice. The first time, we missed our tee time, because none of us had any idea how long it would take to get there from LSU.
It was right after it opened and there was still a lot of construction around the course. It was "okay". The 620yd par 5 is just stupid.

Same here..
But S.M.'s green fee isn't really the issue.
Howell and Dumas are laughable. EBR would be better off scrapping those two. The numbers don't lie.

Any course that requires you to show your green fee receipt at the first tee is ungentlemanly and should be shut down.

Look, I love Santa Maria. It was my first and only sub 80 round. But, I don't really think its worth $60 for a round. I can play Carter Plantation for less than that. Hell, I played Grand Bear in MS for $35 on a Sunday. It was a special, but that's a top quality course.
Carter is in better condition than SM but it's not nearly the layout. If you wanna drive out to hammond for that, cool.
Grand Bear is subsidized by the casino....it's bleeding. That's an $80 to $110 course there.
BREC at the least should cut the biggest money drain.

I had to show my receipt at most courses in BR, including the UC, and a lot elsewhere, including both the TPC of LA and the TPC of Tampa Bay.
I don't think its a big deal.

If you are gonna drive that far, just keep going a little to the Bluffs. That blows them both out of the water. Also underpriced.....
BR golf is in a sad state.

It's really not a big deal, but I think it's ludicrous. Like I would even dream of walking on a golf course without paying. But I can understand why they do it.

I dreamt I did once at Pebble. I had to wash the sheets.

Well, I live in Hammond, so its not too far a drive for me. My brother and I caught some 3:30 twilight Friday afternoon tee times this summer for $30 with cart before it got ridonkulously hot. But even from BR, Carter is well worth the drive IMO.
Santa Maria is one of my favorite layouts, and really is well kept for the cost. I don't know; I'd still pay $60 to play there, but I'm willing to bet it would stop being as well kept if the greensfees went up.

The only reason they are under priced is because the market I that area changed, and demanded they change too or be forced out of the market completely! There is a reason the bluffs has changed hands a few times.
-those who fail to change are doomed to fail!

The Bluffs "market" (North BR) has always been crap. LJ Sevin had been pouring millions into that place for years, they were able to keep the dues low. He only stopped when Tanner finally drove it into the ground after building that stupid clubhouse.
Bottom line, BR has too many courses. Cull the money losers and hopefully the remaining ones get healthy. I really hope BREC does the right thing and closes Howell and Dumas sooner rather than later.

Webb has to have the most rounds played out of any BR area course except maybe LSU.
They used to do the most rounds by far. At one time it was the most in the state. Now in BR they are third behind LSU and Sherwood.

She wants to have 3 hole and 6 hole rates? Really? And does she really think marketing more to women will help the bottom line?
They should close Howell and Clark immediately, which will force those 25,000 rounds to their other courses.

Raising prices was not Copper Mills problem. The city of Zachary can't support it...should have never been built. And, too many courses in BR which keep people from driving to Zachary to play. Then on top of that, Beaver Creek was opened around the same time. And lastly, the greens have never been in good condition consistently. Beaver is a better track and in much better condition more often than not.

I play copper a ton but that's only bc I could always get a good deal online
I bet 2/3 or the people that play there are playing for cheap
Im kind of a cheapskate so I like to keep my golf rounds cheap as possible
I play a lot of groupon rounds, etc.
