Very dirty slide. There was no double play to be broken up. He went out of his way with a very late slide with his spikes up.

If you throw at someone with a baseball and you have the high ground?

Yes, fricking yes To throw at someone, and then have your catcher push him down from behind so you can jump on top isnt tough or "beating the shite" out of him

Austin deserved something for his spiked slide. However, Kelly wasnt some badass here at all

I was just surprised Judge was a peacemaker trying to break things up. That monster could make people think twice about hitting a Yankee batter if he came in full hulk mode.

idk who id be more worried about Judge or Stanton going all hulk mode

Slide was bush - no chance for dp there, ball hit slowly and Holt not even looking to turn. Kelly let him off easy, hit him in the meat, and wasn't even a real Joe Kelly fastball. Vasquez did exactly what he was supposed to do as the catcher. Worthwhile fight, hand out appropriate suspensions and move on. Problem solved, maybe next time Tyler Austin will think twice about going Ty Cobb on an infielder.

Judge or Stanton

It was an interesting fight to watch. At the end Stanton and Judge had Kelly between them, keeping other Yankees off. But it's probably the last place Kelly would have thought he'd want to be.

And for the people saying Vasquez pushed Austin down, he grabbed the back of his jersey to keep him from going out to the mound. He didn't push him or force him to the ground at all. Austin went to the ground when Kelly side-stepped him.

Video of slide from LF for anyone saying it wasn't dirty.

Notice how Holt's entire body is on the 3rd base side of the bag, and how wide Austin's leg is.

Absolutely.

He went out of his way to spike the guy's leg.

If he has spiked him over the bag, then maybe you have an argument.

ETA: Just watched it again, the fielder isn't even straddling the base, he's stretched out toward the throw.

Watch for yourself.

If it was so dangerous and he was not over the bag, then why wasnt it ruled a double play by the umps after they reviewed it?

Even dirtier with those angles. What a punk that guy is. He performs a very dirty slide and then is surprised when he gets plunked?

Because they weren't trying to turn a double play.

Don't know how can argue that it wasn't dirty, especially after being dead wrong about the fielder straddling the base trying to turn a double play.

Or maybe they got the call wrong and should have ruled the batter out as well. It happens.

You do realize it was the Red Sox last 2 years acting like whiny bitches throwing at people because of "dirty slides" that were questionable at best right?

You misrepresent facts to try to make weird points. Catcher grabbed his jersey a little and definitely didn't push him down.

Smaller pitcher stood his ground and was ready to go against a considerably larger player. That was the point people were making.

He intentionally spiked him in the leg. What are you arguing here?

They can't call the batter out just because of the dirty slide. The dirty slide has to cause the runner to be safe, or reasonably effect the play. No intent for dp there. That was just a dirty, bush slide from a guy that now looks like a mouth breathing oaf - either he learned a lesson, or he is just a douche and will continue to be a douche.

I did that one time getting thrown out on a force play at 3B as a 19 year old, pissed because I had struck out in a prior AB in a big spot, immediately felt like a douche, and I paid the price for it later.

If I was a Yankee fan I'd be terrified of Stanton hulking out. Dude would break something on the person and himself

Obviously dirty as frick slide, Holt wasn't even close to blocking the base or anything else, and the runner made it a point to throw his leg out to hit Holt. I'm not a fan of hitting people with a pitch, but at least they waited until it was Austin.

I agree for the most part. The Red Sox did it the right way by waiting for Austin and then hitting him in the proper place. Austin should have just taken his medicine like a man.

From watching the entire thing, it seems that Austin fancies himself as quite the tough guy.

bullshite. The right way wouldve been to throw at him on his first pitch of his next at bat. They waited 2 at bats later, and then threw at him twice in that bat while throwing strikes in between.

At least they hit austin in the same game though, unlike the bullshite they pulled last year throwing at machado for like 2 weeks.

Hopefully this isnt over and betances drills somebody, unfortunately i dont think he has enough control to hit someone on purpose.

I’d love for us to bean their arse in the first inning. Especially after that pussy shite they pulled with Machado. Nothing but a bunch of whiny bitches. Friday we play the tigers for the first time since the brawl so that’ll be interesting but hoping Detroit leaves that in the past

ETA y’all might like this

Austin 3:16

You want the Yankees to throw at someone because the Red Sox got into it with the Orioles last year? Typical Yankee trash.

The issue isn't throwing at Austin that's fine its part of baseball it's when and how you don't thrown three pitches then throw at him you do it first pitch and get it over with. Kelly better be thanking his catcher for saving his bitch arse. Everyone talking about Austin getting beat up have Yall seen the pic of Kelly's face?
