Brandon McCarthy...what is the back story on him being an LSU football fan?

I have become a huge fan of this dude...he is freaking hilarious. Someone who can take what he has been through and turn it into a comedy routine is worthy of a

I know some of you guys on this board know him...and I know he is a poster and what-not...but how did he become an LSU football fan? I don't know the connection...and sorry if Germans...

Pretty sure his dad used to come on business trips to Baton Rouge and would always pick up LSU gear for him. He wanted to play baseball at LSU, but Smoke fricked it up (I think).

i believe he signed out of high school as a 17th rounder and decided to go pro, dont think many coaches could stop that.
