I played at a public school that lost in 4 straight years to private schools in the playoffs. One of those a dome loss.

The split is dumb

Show me top 2 classifications with a total tally of 98-8. I’ll wait…….One game it can happen. 2 games and it’s way less likely to happen. They were complete blow outs. Show them to me and don’t come back with 1 game.

They draw out of their enrollment boundaries - so yes it is the same - and who else do you compete with for players? Karr competes with lots of Catholic and private schools for those players. Jesuit, Brother Martin, Shaw, St. Aug., Rummel, Holy Cross, John Curtis, De La Salle, etc. who does Alexandria compete with for players?

That’s bc the Catholic/Religious schools and Karr being an open enrollment school in greater NOLA area. Karr should never lose.

pparently you missed 1983, 1985, 1989, 1990, 1993, 1995, 2001 in 4a

And 1995, 2000, 2002, 2009, 2013, 2015, 2016 in 5a

Care to add some context showing me 7 seasons in each division in the last 42 years?

I went back to 2001 That's the 12 seasons prior to the split.

1A - Public - 5 Wins, Private - 7 Wins

2A - Public - 4 Wins, Private - 8 Wins

3A - Public - 4 Wins, Private - 8 Wins

4A - Public - 9 Wins, Private - 3 Wins

5A - Public - 8 Wins, Private - 4 Wins

Overall - Public - 30 Wins, Private - 30 Wins

That is specifically privates and not everyone in the Select group now.

I did use a spreadsheet to count for me so feel free to go back and do your own research, I make mistakes

The split was mostly about Curtis and Evangel.

Peak La high school football was from 1990-2003. You had the right amount of games (4-5) in the Dome and there were many great title games between public and private schools.

The split makes sense in smaller schools and smaller sports

It’s idiotic in the highest levels of major sports.

The sad thing is that before the split, the private and public championships were pretty even except where two programs were concerned.

One of which is a shell of their former selves, and the other one, while still good, is not as dominant as they once were.

. But we have magnets and open enrollments in select now and going forward it is not going away.

Until today’s 2 games this was overall one of the closest finals weekends ever(since integration). Today was an anomaly - 1 Karr being one of the best ever teams La has fielded. And a Ruston team that didn’t show up.

Again -

Mike Vallery (13-1) Bobby Conlin (11-4)

1990 Ruston 52, Catholic (BR) 10

Ah yes, ASH and Edna Karr. Your typical “select” schools akin to John Curtis. Both are public schools.
you’re about 10 posts too late. It was to a dumbass who still believes that the rest of the country that prohibits public and private schools from playing is wrong when we know why they do - recruiting. But Hey, La is always 30 years behind everywhere else.

The others have free tuition and free transportation if you run fast enough, throw hard enough, hit hard enough or can make a three. Don’t kid yourself.

Did central and Ruston really do a running clock in second half of a state title game
That’s embarrassing for the sport
