ESPN just reported they offered him 14 M of 17 guaranteed and rest was to be paid through 5 years (550k/year)
Rookie contracts are 4 years with a 5th year option, so that would violate the cba
I don't think you understand the difference between guaranteed, signing bonus, etc.
Guaranteed money was never the issue here. The amount was never the issue. The offset and the delayed signing bonus are the issues.

So does Bosa and his agent.
So what other team compares? When you've had trouble with almost every first round pick for the last 16 years I think it is more about the team than the kids they pick.
The list of their holdouts compared to other teams is hard to look past.

Chargers asking for both is a bit much, like they really couldn't meet him on one or the other clause?
Posted on 8/24/16 at 7:29 pm to TigerBait1127
I know what it is. If he gets released or option not picked up then he wouldn't get last 550.

Did ESPN say "fully guaranteed" or just "guaranteed"? Because there is a difference.

Part of Bosa's camp's response
There's really no telling who is telling the truth here, but the Chargers history leads me to believe there is some truth to this. They probably purposely held off responding so they could back him into a corner and try to pressure him into a contract through the media.

We will say, that it is ironic that the team now takes issue with the timing of Joey’s arrival, since the Chargers unilaterally decided to remain silent for the first 14 days of training camp instead of replying in a timely fashion to the proposal we made on the eve of training camp on July 28th.

Right now Bosa is looking like a jackass he has ex Chargers, current Chargers, former players railing him.
I don't blame him for trying to get the most he can get, but now he's going to lose.

Nobody knows what the real hang up is because are you sure what he is asking for is what the others have gotten? His agent said they are, but if that's true the former players and current ones wouldn't be all over him.
The Chargers go out in front of this and controlled the story today.

I just watched Schefter on ESPN put the blame on the Chargers.
Hell, they alienated the best player on their team in Weedle. Complete joke of an organization that lacks professionalism and decided to set their own precedence.
Just another way to further alienate the SD fanbase that they don't want to return to anyways.

Did you listen to Russilo today? He had players telling him they would sit out the year if the Chargers did that to them as a top five pick.

because are you sure what he is asking for is what the others have gotten?
Yes
The Chargers publicly embarrassed themselves once again today. Even their method of releasing their statement was pathetic.

The players calling him out are those that didn't get drafted after the 2011 CBA. Their opinion holds minimal weight.
Posted on 8/24/16 at 7:39 pm to molsusports
No I didn't. what players? Because like I said people like LT and his current team mates have crushed him.

I understand what he's trying to do, but he's going to be the loser in this.
