One is tempted to say the Chargers have had trouble signing every significant first round pick in their recent history. That's probably an exaggeration but Bosa can add his name to a list that includes Tomlinson, Q Jammer, Eli Manning,
Yes, they will likely win in their stupid pissing match with Bosa one way or another. They will cost him some money, but this does affect how people look at the organization and no reasonable player should want to be drafted by them - and no reasonable fanbase should want their city to bring in a Chargers team with that management or ownership.
Big picture, the Chargers are run by short-sighted assholes.

They will cost him some money

Why did you include Eli? Eli never held out from the Chargers, he forced a trade, but did not hold out. The Chargers made out like Bandits on that one.
They got Rivers, Kaeding, Merriman, and Roman Oben for Eli.

the Chargers are run by short-sighted assholes.
it probably is true, it just doesn't change how I would look at a negotiation, the bargaining power and leverage...i'd rather be the coach or front office guy who wasted a pick than the player who lost the fortune.

The ridiculous thing is that the guaranteed money is just that, GUARANTEED MONEY. Whether you get it tomorrow or a few months from now, they can't back out of it.
Tell that to Trent Richardson & Rolando McClain. They combined to lose out on over $6 million in "GUARANTEED MONEY"

He said he would not sign with that organization because they are poorly run - mostly because he had taken note of how poorly they treated their recent picks like Jammer and Tomlinson.
Eli would have held out if they hadn't agreed to trade him.

he forced a trade, but did not hold out
draft him and sell him, which is what they did. the reasoning is sound. eli thought NY was better organization and better place to be, his reasoning was sound
now the shite with brees and marty...reasoning may have been sound, but

Yeah he shouldnt be on that list but Rivers held out

reduced a fortune - for a player
but eventually lose your white collar job (that pays less) if you are the coach or front office guy.
assuming i don't squander the money or get a serious injury I'd actually rather be the player.

$$$$$$$, endorsement $$$$$...that's just as good of a reason as any too, so more power to him.

which clearly is to get the frick away from the chargers

has anyone here ever heard eli speak? he's retarded.
has anyone ever been impressed by a player for how smart they sound? jesus, we're talking about guys who bang their brains around for money.

I doubt he had the brain power to make a decision based upon that type of reasoning.
clearly you were wrong, and clearly eli used good judgment in insisting on the trade.

some deals are good for both sides...those are called good deals
no doubt who had the betterererer deal

i'm not seeing how they did something stupid there...everyone got what they wanted, and the chargers got more picks than they would have if they said "ok, we'll draft someone else"

With the Chargers quarterbacks?
I'd rank the franchise satisfaction as:
1) Giants
2) Saints
3) Chargers

Don't want to sound like a homer, but I'd put the Saints #1 because of their history prior to Brees.

Saints are #1 by a country mile. If Brees didn't end up in New Orleans, that team would be playing in San Antonio right now.
Who's not to say that the Giants wouldn't have won those two Super Bowls with Philip Rivers at quarterback? Wasn't it the general consensus a few years ago that Rivers was the best quarterback in the NFL not to have a Super Bowl win? (I imagine Cam Newton is now the champ.)

ESPN just reported they offered him 14 M of 17 guaranteed and rest was to be paid through 5 years (550k/year)
If this is true Bosa comes across looking bad.
