The thing about the story that is new is that the game is being played in September instead of October

WAC commissioner Karl Benson said Tuesday that several high-profile programs have turned down a chance to play a home game against Boise State in 2011.

Boise State — with help from ESPN, Benson said — has been shopping for a game to fill out its 2011 schedule.

Benson wasn't sure of the exact number of schools that had said no, but figured it was close to 10. The Broncos weren't asking for any games in Boise in return, he said.

"They're running into a situation where nobody will schedule them, nobody will take them," Benson said.

Bleymaier said he has struggled to find willing opponents, even when Boise State doesn't ask for a home game in return.

"We've been turned down on several occasions, even after they've sent emails out to schools saying they have this date open and are looking for a game," Bleymaier said. "We respond, and they say, 'Oh, well, no thanks.' "

Is it really BSU manning up or BCS schools manning up to play them?

this. BSU has tried to schedule a lot of BCS-level teams who turn them down when they demand to play home and home

FIFY

ETA: I beleive the quotes from the post above were just posturing by BSU. Why not say who has turned them down? Wouldn't that help Boise by putting pressure on schools who turn them down?

No...it'd burn bridges and be highly unprofessional. They aren't going to disclose who they've had contract talKs with

Boise is in the position of having to play 4 or 3 for 1's. That is so not fair to them, but its the only way people will play them. It is hard for them to schedule anyone, especially now after beating Oregon 2 in a row, and winning 2 Fiestas. Boise would take most SEC teams to the woodshed in Boise, but will never get the chance.

Is it really BSU manning up or BCS schools manning up to play them? That has been the thing for so long...its not in any BCS schools best interest to play them...what to you get out of it? A win? against a non-BCS school. A loss? to a non-BCS school...no win situation really.

I think a win over Boise is actually a pretty big one at this time in the eyes of the pollsters. Its not like you're getting a win over Nevada or someone like that. A loss isnt like losing to most mid majors.

yeah that was a total assbeating, however didn't Boise's QB have a HORRIFIC game? Grant it UGA was getting good pressure, but I remember him being ridiculously bad.

Boise lost their Def Coord. to Tennessee today. I wonder if they can recover.

Phil Steele has them returning 23 starters, so they should still be pretty good.

Other than UF and Bama who would have beat them in Boise this year?

And it is normally that way, they are better at home than the road.
