Well I know one thing, Penn State is the playoff committees biggest fan because they have by far the easiest path in the playoffs. Got to destroy one cream puff in the first rd and gets rewarded by facing another cream puff in the quarters. Whereas #1 Oregon that beat Penn State for the Big ten title, gets to face Ohio State right off the bat. Make this make sense

Both of these teams needed to earn it a lot more than they’ve had to.
Boise didn’t deserve a bye and Penn state didn’t deserve their easy path.

Boise should not be a 3 seed. Oregon should not be playing Ohio st while Penn st gets Boise.
The Boise 3 seed thing is fixable going forward. With 12 teams it’s pretty likely 1-2 teams get an undeserving easier path over someone. Just how it goes

Everyone keeps blaming this on Boise getting the bye, but it's also in the seeding of the 5-8 teams.
3 of the 4 teams in the 5-8 range had 2 losses, and the other lost to to NIU at home. OSU had wins over 2 playoff teams, combined the other 3 teams had zero.
As said above, PSU shouldn't have been the 6. OSU probably should have been the 5/6 range with Texas, then PSU and ND at 7/8. That would have immediately fixed some of these issues

Committee didn't look at the big picture.... Just went letter of the law by this Playoff agreement to appease other Conferences. ....
That said, in the contract they could've said fine, you're in but we're re-seeding after the 1st round.
This mess needs to be flexible.

They beat Penn State, who else? Tennessee does not count in the context of your argument because that was in the playoffs. Otherwise, your argument makes no sense. Also, Georgia beat Texas twice, and Texas is in the playoffs. Ohio State is better than Penn State or ND, but, I digress. I think a conference championship can guarantee you a spot, but not necessarily a top four (I would settle for an opportunity to HOST or get a bye, in essence, a guaranteed top eight)
