My theory is that Paterno lost his mind about 15 years ago, so it doesnt matter what was going on he was too old and incompetent to deal with it. Stupid Penn St. allowed him to stay there 20 years too long.

That I can agree with. He should not have had the control over the program that he did in his later days. You want him to be the head coach? Fine. However, there should have been ample administrative people from the AD looking over various aspects of the program. The only thing he should have done was go to practice/games and make football related decisions.

I don't know how letting someone get away with what Sandusky did can be considered the best thing to ever happen to Penn State.

To Penn State, after all this crap maybe not. But he's still the best thing to ever happen to their football program

I continue to disagree. He may have been the best thing to the past football program, but looking forward they're going to suck for awhile.

Clueless. The hiding, covering up and blatant denial of child molestation is worse. Sandusky is a sick vile person and needs to have his penis removed and locked in a little square white room the rest of his life. But the guy could be mentally imbalanced and couldnt see what is obvious to us, child molestation is the lowest, most vile and sickening thing ever. But the people who covered up are even more disgusting then sandusky and i would argue deserve worse punishment. Anally raped by everyone in the prison yard. Not jail, angola prison type. Matter of fact i say make it a traveling show where these people are taken to the worst prisons in the americas and let them be raped by all comers. Maybe even offer some of the lifers, non-violent ones, even get a reduced sentence for making these people bleed and cry.

It is?

Yeah? Mentally imbalanced, but perfectly capable of coaching a great defense...

Those guys were like family. It's not the easiest decision in the world to rat out a friend...and anybody knows that. It obviously should have been done, but the worst in all of this is Sandusky.

Funny how the people say that JoePa was old, senile, needed help going to the restroom, etc.

But now he gets shite on the worst? I don't buy it.

Take the statue down, punish all involved (that are living), and begin moving on.

But either JoePa knew what the hell he was doing, or he was as inept at dealing with legal issues as he was coaching a football team during his latter years.

Maybe your family covers up child molestation but its jot something mine would do. Yes the hiding and covering up is worse. Instead of stopping it in the 80's and prosecuting this sicko you let him go ahead and continue to molest kids for the next 20+ years and knowing sandusky runs a youth program. These people were enablers. Also mentally imbalanced doesn't mean he couldn't coach a defense, your arguement is weak and baseless sir. Plenty of mentally imbalanced people have went on to have successful lives. What do you have against these people?

Wow...try reading my post again. Didn't say you cover it up...just said it's not as easy to come out about certain things when you are thyat close to the situation.

Yes, they were enablers. And Sandusky took advantage.

What does this even mean given the context of our post? Are you saying I have things against molested people?

I don't think they should take it down, they made the statue to celebrate his coaching accomplishments and all of that is still true. It kinda sucks that Paterno is getting more hate than Sandusky, Sandusky is just getting written off as a sicko pervert (which he his) and basically being ignored. Meanwhile everybody is pissing all over Paternos name. He was still the best thing that ever happened to Penn State football

Joe Paterno knowingly allowed innocent children to be preyed upon by one of his closets associates and did nothing in the interests of protecting his own name and his own legacy. Regardless of whether you think the guy was senile the past 4-5 years, he was completely in his right mind and knew in the 90s when Sandusky retired under "mysterious circumstances". His name should be stricken from the record books and associated with shame and disgrace.

So anybody whos ever committed a crime (which Joe Pa is not convicted of any) should have all their records stricken? Damn the NFL is going to need a new record book...

Or is it just crimes that you deem as to morally fricked up, that anyone associated with it at all should be ripped from the records? We could be like the Egyptians with Akhenaten and try to erase any mention of him in history, that way nobody will ever know he even existed.

If anyone, ANYONE can justify Sandusky and JoePa in their mind then they are a sick person. Its one thing to let some WR slide for smoking marijuana but when you start accepting child molesters and 1 degree below child molesters.....damn....

I dont want JoePa to be erased from history I want him to be disgraced. The man cared about his own records over innocent children.
