If you don't think Winston was an embarrassment to the college (or any college) that would have given him the opportunity that's directly related to where he is today, then you need to do some soul searching. Am I being judgemental? Absolutely. Easiest call I'll make in this lifetime.

Here's to being less tolerant and more judgemental. Time to bring decency and respect back to the game.

I caught the interview live, too. And Finebaum did what he's famous for, he was trolling & set Bowden up by the language he used. I am no Bowden fan by any means, but when you look at his complete answer, Finebaum managed to leave out an important part when tweeting about it later. Which, again, Finebaum is famous for. He used the same trolling technique 2 wks ago by pushing Jacob Hester verbally into a corner & got him to "say" CLM is on the hot seat.

I almost admire Finebaum's ability to frame a question in such a way to get the most provocative answer he can, and then run with it. Honestly, I didn't see much revelation in the interview, but Finebaum came back talking about how incredible Bowden's admission was and he kept replaying the audio for the rest of the show.

He even tried claiming that Bowden's story about FSU preferring the ACC invite over the SEC in the early 90s was even bigger news. That's been discussed on TD and elsewhere for years and I don't believe for a second that Paul never heard about it before yesterday. But he got I-Man and Darryl crowing about FSU running scared from the SEC, so he got what he wanted.

FSU is my team and I respect Bowden but Winston's national title and heisman trophy overcome any type of media embarassment.

Bobby Bowden is loyal to Bobby Bowden. Would FSU be FSU without him? No. Does he give a crap about FSU now? No. He gets paid by FSU boosters that like to hear him tell stories. 2001-2009 taught me that there are FSU fans, and there are Bobby fans. Despite what he did for FSU, he tore it the hell apart in the 2000s, and he did it while dropping the folksy charm and lashing out at anybody who questioned him. If it was up to him he would still be HC, with Joffrey Bowden as OC, Chuck Amato as DC, and Ann Bowden as AD. He's bitter and always will be. These days he's not anymore connected to the goings on at FSU than the fans, if that much. I doubt he even knows how to spell Jameis.

The rape case is crap and even Jameis haters who read the report know so. He's an immature idiot but did a teenager embarrass FSU anymore than an out of touch HC who put himself as well as "friends and family" above an entire university? You're a legend Bobby, now STFU and go hit some golf balls

Just another story where people just read 1 sentence on appear and think they know what happened. Did anyone actually listen to the question and his entire answer??

Bobby has also said FSU didn't join the SEC because he thought we had a better chance of winning a title in the ACC. This was the SEC that was no better than any of the other power conferences for pretty much all of Bowden's career at FSU. The same SEC UF dominated under Spurrier, with Bowden going 8-5-1 against him. I understand the out of context comment but it's clear Bobby is either horrible at being baited, or more likely still butthurt over being told to pack up and leave so the program could breathe again

The U and Jimmy Johnson say hi.

Also, to compare Bowden vs spurrier and Jimbo vs. muschamp is lunacy. Not the same thing. At all. In fact, the ACC was much more difficult under Bowden.

The ACC is much better today than in the 90's.

I didn't hear the interview live because it was on Finebaum and I totally ignore Finebaum and change the channel/station whenever he's on, but I did hear a more complete version of the audio on LeBatard.

That quote is being thrown around completely out of context.

1. Finebaum framed the question to lead Bowden to that word.
2. Bowden qualified the statement after and showed his position to be much softer than what that headline indicates. Seemed that he was saying that some of the isolated incidents were embarrassing--there's no debate on this. But he definitely didn't seem to be making a statement that Winston as an overall person is an embarrassment as the headline would suggest.
