Yeah....this definitely opens up the door at least for our new AD to give Billy the full court press if Pope doesn't get it together this season.
I'm personally out on Pope until he shows me he belongs in the seat. So far....
He has not.

Its really bizarre UNC didnt pursue Donovan harder. The Michael Malone move is quite strange although it may workout.

Yeah I thought it was odd as well. Even though I hate UNC, I will admit I was glad to see them stop with the "Carolina way" nonsense and hire from outside their ranks. They needed to.
Just like football, basketball is better when the blue bloods are good. Mix that with some underdog/upstart/cinderallas ie Indiana football lately, and you e got a recipe for success. So UNC getting good again is good for the sport.
We supposedly courted Billy when the Cal era ended, but he wanted us to wait two weeks or whatever it was for the Bulls season to end or the playoffs end....I don't follow the NBA so don't remember exactly what it was.
Our AD panicked because he wasnt certain Billy was going to say yes (he DID turn us down once before as well know) and made an easy hire. It's nonsense. But he's gone now and we have a new AD.....the same guy who canned Geoff Collins at GT and promoted Brent Key. He has a documented history of not fricking around.
As much as I hate to admit it, watching Hubie coach UNC made me feel a bit of pity for UNC. We hate them. They hate us. But they are fricking better than that.

Malone is going to be a HR hire for them. Wait and see. Pope at UK is similar to UNC hiring Matt Dougherty. Remember him? Both are and were "in over their heads." Say what you want about Cal. You never want to be the man , after the man. (See Ron Zook, Stan Heath, Ray Perkins, Gary Gibbs, Ray Goff, and probably DeBoer)

That's been true at Kentucky always.
Joe B succeeded Rupp and was good but not great. Then we hired a drunk in Sutton.
Tubby succeeded Pitino and was good but not great. Then we hired a drunk in Gillispie.
Pope succeeded Cal and is good but not great.....

lol Spurs can’t fire the coach because, we know why so Donovan gets hired as the coach pretending to be an assistant. The NBA is so corrupt.

Same reason we were told he couldn’t be criticized for blowing big leads in the finals. Do you follow the NBA?

You are so painfully stupid. The Spurs aren't going to fire a coach that just took a super young team from 34 to 62 wins and way overachieved by making the Finals. Another idiot who makes everything about race.

So you don’t follow the NBA. Thanks.

Always funny to see reality trigger someone. Such a fascinating phenomenon.

When Todd Golden wins his second natty next year and bolts to the NBA, Billy will come back to Gainesville to coach on the court with his name on it.
