He had an emergency pod this past weekend. Its just a "there was a really good Finals game and we didn't have a podcast scheduled for it" podcast.

I know.

I mostly meant it because he’s in sports

I’d gladly work my arse off to work in sports

The thing about simmons is he built his schtick on getting to be completely non objective on his favorite team.

He gets to live every sports fan's dream. He follows and covers religiously the sport he loves and unlike every other big time journalist he doesnt even have to pretend to give up his childhood fandom.

I know that it would be nearly impossible for me to fill hours on end of air time at a level that the masses would be interested in but he truly is living the dream.

Simmons isnt really on about Trump much at all. At least not now. He'll make a joke from time to time, but he doesn't spend much time with it.

I was just commenting on how Alejandro says politics ruins everything while interjecting politics into the thread....that had no political vibe at all

He literally brought up Trump the other day, asking when he was gonna get involved with this Canada beating USA thing. Sometimes he just can’t help himself. It’s really my only gripe with him. Well that and how he says his L’s.

This is debatable at best at this point. Taking every weekend off to travel 3 hours away to watch your 13 year old daughter play soccer doesn't exactly scream "grinding." Not to mention he hasn't written a column in like 5 years now.

He pods when he feels like it and either does it with his buddies or a big celebrity that will make people listen.

I will give him credit for acquiring talent tho - almost every single person at the Ringer is incredibly talented/funny/interesting to listen to/read. Rewatchables and Binge Mode were 100% his idea. His job now is to basically sit back and watch his company grow, and I envy him for it.

The 30 for 30 thing was his idea as well. Grantland was awesome and also had a ton of talent. I’m much more a fan of Simmons the media producer/executive than personality honestly

I swear I don't know how most of you function in the real world, or do you just put yourself in a bubble with only people 100% like you.

Simmons has his quirks, and he'll admit it. He owns up to being an only child and often times petulent (he says this is a big reason he went at ESPN like he did), but the guy is entertaining and so good with Russillo.

My favorite litte thing he does is play the Pearl Jam clip at the beginning of everyone of his podcasts. I'm not a fan of them, but it's clear this is a "I can finally do whatever I want with my site and my content, so I'm going to do this".
