Anyone find it strange that the Big 12 essentially needs court approval in order to enforce its own laws?

The Texas AG has already said any attempt to punish TT / Sorsby would be met with a lawsuit, so Big 12 is pulling this into federal court to try to fend off any potential Texas lawsuit

The problem is conferences enforce said bylaws selectively.

They'll be the question.

The NCAA certainly does which is part of why they keep losing in court.

Right? Didn't Iowa St have some players banned for gambling? Sounds like the Big 12 has taken it seriously in the past, for some reason TTU thinks it shouldn't apply to them though.

which would effectively give the league the ability to enforce its by-laws.

can someone smarter than me tell me how the frick we got to the point where it's requiring federal court to allow a conference to actually enforce the rulebook?

Governing body- "Here are the rules, you can't do so and so"
-Shithead kid gets a lawyer and goes to local yokel judge in hometown: "No we don't agree with that. You can't tell my guy what he can and can't do"
Governing body- "Hey federal government, can you please let us enforce the rules?"

Is that really where we are?

Greed & Money. Money & Greed.

Pay the players. Go to a playoff format for more money. Go to a 72 team playoff for more money. Allow gambling in every state and to be sports sponsor for more money. File lawsuits to expand ability to play for more money.
