You guys naming play by play guys are annoying the frick out of me. The vast majority of play by play guys didn't play the game. Way to ruin a thread.

Apparently, reading comprehension is a skill that you do not possess. The title specifically says "commentator/analyst".
To help educate you, another name for the PBP guy is Play by play COMMENTATOR or Main COMMENTATOR.
And the fact that that would make you think the thread is ruined is an excellent example of one being a soyboy.

Back in the 80's there weren't a million cameras on the field, so when a guy scored a TD, you just assumed it was a TD as the players and fans were going crazy.
They never showed flags on TV. Sometimes you thought you had a TD for long minutes afterward until you saw an official indicate some penalty (no mic) long after the fact.
So I always appreciated that Keith Jackson would alert the viewer immediately after a big play with "hold the phone." Letting you know he sees a flag on the field.
Just those little touches.
