I used to love Jon Miller calling ESPN Sunday Night Baseball games. I grew up listening him on those broadcasts for over 20 years, so it was sad to see them go another direction a few seasons ago.

He's still the voice of the Giants, and has been for a long time. He also does great impressions of Vin Scully and Bob Sheppard.

I know it's not the popular opinion, but I can't stand Gus Johnson's style or voice.

Yep, grew up with him and Joe Morgan. Really enjoyed it back in the day. I actually don't mind the current crew

For college football, I'll take Mike Patrick or Brad Nessler with Todd Blackledge all day long.

My favorites:
Greg Gumbel
Marv Albert
Kevin Harlan
Mike Breen

As far as color commentary goes I think Gary Danielson is the best. And IDGAF I enjoy the hell out of Verne/Gary for SEC games.

I miss Dick Enberg and Ron Franklin

Nessler, Vin Scully, and Marv are my faves. I'm probably alone in this but I enjoy Mike Breen also, just can't stand Van Gundy and Mark Jackson

Gary Danielson is the best color guy in college football currently. People hate on him because he's associated with Verne, but he's the best in the business.

Holy shite...

:pom::poms:

Made my morning man - but most people prefer a color guy who constantly doesn't get shite wrong...

And who isn't a pathetic and shameless cheerleader.

I read Bob's book 'Catcher in the Wry'. Really funny stuff. One story I remember was about an old coach, who after every game took a shower and sat down naked in front of his locker in one of those folding chairs with plastic straps that criss-cross leaving half of the sitting area empty. The coach's testicles always managed to fall through the open areas so that they were visible hanging below the seat. It was nice of Bob not to reveal the coach's name.

In all seriousness, yeah.

I was being serious... Scully and Nessler are two of the best in the business.

And I agree with you that Danielson is a very good color guy, though being with Old Man Verne has held him back. I'm not sure I'd say he's the best, but I'm also not sure who I'd put ahead of him.

For baseball....

The greatest I've heard are Ernie Harwell, Jack Buck, Vin Scully, Milo Hamilton, and Dick Enberg (love his voice!).

My all-time favorite college football voice is Keith Jackson.

Basketball is Marv Albert.

I liked Dick Vitale and Billy Packer for college hoops, but I know they both have a lot of haters.

Brent Musberger makes me want to rip my ears off.

The worst football announcer of all-time is Randy Cross.

And the overall worst announcer of all-time for everything sports is Chris Berman.
