His passing at LSU was better than any other college player. Best I've seen. But his teammates couldn't convert alot of times.
He just sees the floor way better than most.
The frustrating part of watching was that, as you said, the team mates weren't good enough to take advantage of his passing. For us he needed to be the star, take over games, and be more aggressive to elevate the team. He didn't do that. He struggled using his superior athleticism to score and has poor shooting. He was just an 18 or 19 year old though. If these were the days where players like him stayed more than 1 year, we might have actually done something.
He'll develop his game and develop his shooting. I hope he becomes one of the best players in the NBA. It just sucks that our one year with that kind of talent on the basketball team, and we couldn't even make a tournament appearance. I blame Jones for that though, not Simmons.

People can't seem to get over the fact Ben is extremely cool headed on the floor and they misunderstand that as him not caring.
Same thing plagued Joe Johnson at Arkansas.

His game is similar to LeBron. He's fast and big, with incredible vision and passing skill. Not a great jumper, but can drive and finish and rebound. It's just that he plays more like a floor general than a Durant or Kobe type who shoots a ton of shots and carries a team offensively.
Surround him with good shooters and he can be an incredible player. If he's asked to do everything and his teammates can't hit open shots, then he won't be nearly as effective as he could be.

I'm pulling for him, but his game is as similar to Lebron's as my lifestyle is to Leo Dicaprio's
Maybe I'm missing something here, because I'm no fan of pro basketball, but in passing, I think I've seen Lebron make shots beyond 4-6 ft of the basket.
Simmons has no such skill at this point.

true. Hard to see Simmons develop into much of an offense threat in the NBA with his lack of shooting skills, but will still be a good player with his passing and rebounding. Maybe he can stay thin and be a tall point guard in the NBA or maybe he can bulk up and play in the post. He does have an array of shots at the basket. Could be another Kevin McHale around the basket. Or like a taller Jason Kidd. Either way he will find his niche in the NBA and have a role on a NBA team.
