His answer was much better than mine

Shame about the weather at evd last Saturday, diat. Thought about driving over to see power alert (been following him since he came over here), but when he decided not to ship in I changed my mind.

Betting Frosted and Materiality. Both didn't run in the Preakness. Flying into New York Thursday for the race

Before the 2 defections this morning, AP, with a win, would have faced the most horses in the history of the TC winners.

I think War Admiral faced 32 total. And AP will now face 31, if the other 7 make the gate.

By comparison, Affirmed beat 20 runners, Seattle Slew faced 29, and Secretariat 21. Count Fleet faced the fewest, 14.

I believe a Belmont field that produced a triple crown winner has never been larger than 8.

Pulling for AP but I won't be betting him. I have tough time seeing him go this distance against some of the fresh talent in this one. Maybe with a very very modest pace I can see him going wire to wire.

Based off of what I was hearing last year from Chrome's camp I thought he had a real shot. I guess I don't know racing like I thought or I want to see a TC so bad I hear what I want. That is why I asked the question of the true horse people and handicappers. Here is hoping paw paw Empire Maker can get AP the 1 1/2

I thing the Dubai horse is the only one bred for 1 1/2. Maybe materiality...

So as usual as of late, a bunch of very tired horses will stagger home

I think he's going to do it. There is just something different about this horse. The way he carries himself, how down to business he is. He knows what he is, which is a badass. Reminds me of Zenyatta. The way he finished that last workout at Churchill, ears pricked, ready for more.

I think we will see history made Saturday. I was in high school and college for Secretariat, Slew, and Affirmed. Would never have believed at that time it would be 37 years until we saw it again.

I mean, I guess I could have gone by myself but I would have had nowhere to stay and would have had to hope to get a general admission ticket and be by myself all day. Not to mention renting a car and attempting to drive up there (he spent summers there so knows his way around).

He was going to fly up with the horse and I'd meet him there, stay with his extended family, and spend the whole day on the backside away from the crazy crowds.

He now has to stay at Churchill with the horses there...

Chrome could have won it last year if Vic would have shot to the lead. it wasn't that he wasn't ready that was a tactical error

Eh. Not so sure about that one. He was tired horse.

Though, not having him pinned inside would have been a good thing. He was kinda climbing down the backstretch.

I had a 55% positive feeling about chrome winning. I'd say I feel about 70% with pharoah.

Chrome also got hurt in the gate.
We've had a few lose by less than a length.
So... It's not impossible.

Fresh derby horses that skipped pimlico is kinda shitty, but moob, and materiality never factored in.

I've watched the last half of the derby several times... And frosted closed on everyone but AP. He only made up 1 length after the quarter pole.
It's really going to be up to victor if he wins or not. At this point it's more about tactics than a direct comparison of the horses.

Mubtaahij also had a crazy tough ship over. He's been here since and has been working frequently and well at Belmont. He's even changing leads in the stretch now. Gets a local rider too. I'm definitely playing him in exotics.
