While American Pharaoh does look good in his training, when has he ever not looked good? I just think his training regime has been awfully light for building up stamina. At shorter distances he is no doubt the best horse by far, but I do wonder if there is a steady galloper that will pass him in the stretch. If he sets relatively quick fractions, I think he will be staggering home in that last furlong, and it will look like Smarty Jones/Birdstone all over again. IF he sets relatively slow fractions, then I think that will actually keep the more stamina minded horses closer to the pace with less to do late.

If he wins it, I will salute him, but for all his impressive-looking scores this year, he somehow has never really blown me away.

I think I will likely bet Tale of Verve and Keen Ice and possibly Moobie across the board, and leave it at that. Should AP not hit the board, the prices will be crazy.

I'm too depressed to even think about it

Was going up until this morning. We have one in the acorn. After waiting til our plans were made the other assistant threw a bitch fit and now hubby isn't going anymore.

I think he does it and that makes me even more upset...

I would also like to point out how much I detest Bayern. He is the type of horse that screws me when I do use him in a bet and when I don't. Feast/famine horses are just the worse.

I want him to win just as a swift kick in the pants of the American breeding industry to see where they have put the American TB.

I mean, I think even Japan is breeding better horses overall.

No doubt.

Which is why Tale of Verve with Take of Ekati's dam being a Sunday Silence mare is in with a chance. Especially with such a strong stamina pedigree on the damside. Seriously every close sire on the damside is a stamina influence- Unbridled, Private Account, Nijinsky, and Herbager. Zoftig is also a half sister to his dam

Speaking of International racing, just found out that TVG will be showing all of Royal Ascot!

I saw that able friend is a go for ascot as of today.

Also glad to hear solow is targeting the breeders cup

I'm sure I will also miss going to breeders cup at keeneland. But probably not until 2 days before leaving. Again.

I am seriously contemplating tailgating for the BC, but I just couldn't imagine being stuffed inside the track with that many people at the level I could afford.

field of 8. that seems small for such a high profile belmont race with a triple crown on the line. am i off base in my thinking?
