Anyone that thinks amphetamines make you hit a baseball farther. Why would I not believe that story? Aaron had mostly white teammates in the 50's, 60's and 70's and I'm aure there were a few racists on those teams. Surely one of them can contradict the story and tell us how Hank Aaron popped greenies on a regular basis. Start naming them.

though taking methamphetamines helps a baseball player incredibly also. Helps timing and focus big time. They have been taken since the 40’s

Why would a white player be in any more of a hurry to out himself than a black player? There was no testing in the 20th century of MLB. Each player could do what was right in their own eyes. And if chemicals were found that made you a better player why wouldn't that become common knowledge quickly? And steroids were just as well known in professional sports as a physical enhancement as speed at that time.

And never forget, MLB just didn't want to know.

Whatever. Unless somebody else accuses Hank Aaron of cheating, I've got no reason not to believe him. And if you think that a pep pill enhances performance like anabolic steroids and HGH, I don't know what to tell you. What did MLB not want me to know? Fact is, in the first 95 years of the 20th century, there were only 19 times a player hit 50 HR's in a season by 12 different players. Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire played 10 of those seasons and didn't do it. Bonds only hit 40 HR's once and McGwire did it twice. From 1996-2022 (27 seasons), there have been 28 times a player hit 50 HR's in a season by 18 different players. Granted, players are better conditioned in the last 27 years but 13 of those seasons were by players known to use steroids.

Hitting a baseball requires confidence, vision, timing and bat speed through hip torque. If it was just a matter of brute strength, major league lineups would look like the local beer-guzzling softball league. But when you are elite at all those hitting skills and then add steroids to the mix, that is how you acheive multiple 50 and 60 HR seasons.

He had a reputation as jerk. He should have been more jovial with the media like David Ortiz was and they would have excused the PED usage.
this is the funniest part about the HOF, it is a joke. Be friendly to the media and they will look past some previous mistakes and let you in.

I believe the Astros did that. They were adamant he would not break the record against them. I don’t think he saw a pitch the whole series. Talk about some fraidy-cats.
