Per Brett McMurphy's twitter:

quote:

B1G commish Jim Delany: “We think 3 of our teams could win it all (@CFBPlayoff) if included. It is disappointing (we didn’t get in @CFBPlayoff)”

Is Purdue one of them since they smoked their conference champs?

I cannot believe when the Big 10 shook up their divisions recently they stuck 3 national powers and Michigan State (who consistently contends but doesn't quite have the consistency historically as the others) in one division and the other is essentially just Wisconsin and then a very very down Nebraska. With Nebraska being completely mediocre for basically the last decade, Wisconsin has no excuse not to win their division every year.

michigan state?

lets be honest here, Bama and Clemson are both smoking Michigan and Michigan State. OSU, on a good day, is the only team that could keep it competitive.

It’s fair to say 2.

Three is absurd though. Completely and utterly absurd.

When they realigned though, Michigan was down and Penn State looked like they may never fully recover. MSU was in the midst of their best stretch in ages.

Wisconsin had won 3 consecutive conference titles recently and Nebraska was on a string of 9-win seasons. The Big Ten couldn't think, hey this might become unbalanced down the road.

Geographic alignment was the only thing that made sense after further expansion. The stupid Legends and Leaders had no rhyme or reason other than potentially rematching Ohio State and Michigan in a CCG.

If that were true Jim by your logic 7 teams from the SEC could win it, all this crap about taking the two best teams in the conference and playing so you can try and gurantee a spot in the CFP is bs, your conference gets rocked by scandal after scandal and even though your academic reputation as a conference speaks for itself. This further proves the point in all the major sports your conference is further falling behind the SEC, and even the ACC, Big 12 have more to show the last couple of years.

Nobody forced you to take Rutgers, nobody forced you to do anything shutup and get better.

No, claiming 3 b1g teams can beat Bama or Clemson is jackassery at it's finest. He want's to claim tOSU can win that's a whole different thing.

I like big 10 just like it is
You get a lot of games in east that matter and are worth tuning in for.

Its not all that different from sec west. Georgia 2017 was first east team to win champ game since Florida in 2008.

Disagree on the they matter part relative to other conferences, worth tuning in for gotta say the games specifically when Wisconsin and Michigan State play are boring football to me. Again its good fundamental football just not that "entertaining" for an outside fan.

Unlike the B1G, the SEC crossover games still were more competitive between the divisions in the regular season. I guess we or I am biased but even watching Tenn when they were bad play Alabama, or Auburn/UGA, LSU/UF was more exciting than some of the crap games the B1G put out.

I could see Ohio State, Michigan or Penn State knocking off either Bama or Clemson. It would be an upset but they are solid teams.

Ohio State is the only team that could conceivably pull it off and that’s largely because Meyer was able to recruit nationally. Winning a championship with a bunch of kids from the rust belt is a tall task.
