Beating up on teams ranked 50-100 means nothing.
I think beating a team like Marquette, St. John's or West Virginia means something.
And any team that loses to a 150+ RPI team can't say that beating a 50-100 team doesn't mean anything.
I'm looking at you, Michigan

In terms of deciding who has played more good teams neither means anything.

Yes, you need to know how SOS and RPI are calculated. It's worthless having this argument if you don't.
And, yes, beating teams ranked No. 51-100 in the RPI does matter. For example, as of today, UW-Green Bay and St. John's are both in the tournament. They are ranked 55th and 63rd.
Comparison of the two teams
Wisconsin:
- SOS All Games (2); RPI (5)
- SOS Conference Games (50); RPI (24)
- SOS Non-Conference Games (9): RPI (1)
Michigan:
- SOS All Games (3); RPI (14)
- SOS Conference Games (17); RPI (2)
- SOS Non-Conference Games (76); RPI (72)
WINNING GAMES DOES MATTER. Simply playing in them isn't enough. That's how SOS and RPI are calculated. This is how everyone that spectates college basketball has always compared/debated two teams.
You have your own random way of 'dropping teams.' In other words, you're the only one playing your own game.
While Michigan was busy beating UMass - Lowell and Houston Baptist, Wisconsin also played UW-Green Bay and SJU - two teams you failed to mention in your very first response to me about non-conference schedules.
Wisconsin has played every bit the schedule Michigan has.

I'm looking forward to closing out this season and hanging a B1G championship banner

Not quite there yet. AJ Hammonds gave us trouble in the first match up. He could do it again tonight.

Columbus City League and OCC are loaded with talent every year. Dayton, Toledo, Akron, Cleveland, Cincy also always have top D1 talent but Columbus area kids have been a cut above lately. Matta doesn't need to recruit out of state to be an elite program IMO. The talent is right in front of him.

I agree 100%!! These next couple of years are no different either. There are some dam good basketball players in Central Ohio. 6'3" Jordan Dartis of Newark and 6'5" Kalil Iverson of Delaware are both kids that Ohio State aren't recruiting and both will end up going to other B1G schools, will come back to haunt us. Matta needs to focus a little more on Ohio kids right now. The state is freaking loaded!

Purdue vs Michigan is quite the interesting game

35 for Purdue is a moron. Keep yourself in between Robinson and the basket and make him hit a jump shot.

Ha, I gave up on it with three minutes left. Michigan just played so stupid in the first half, Purdue was on fire, and Purdue going over the back on every board drove me nuts.
I can't believe that spinball went in.

Wow
Great win though. Have a let down game, play like dog shite, still get the win.
