Another heart stopper in the B1G. Bucks almost stole it.

I thought Wisco had a better SOS than UM?

That's ESPNs BPI. Something they made up because they felt it is more 'up to date' than anything else, but still isn't even used on Selection Sunday. It's been heavily criticized.

The weight of margin of victory in the formula is hilarious. It values blowouts far too heavily. Michigan beats a below-average LBSU by 24 and gets a game BPI of 96. Wisconsin beats a very good SLU team by 6 and gets a game BPI of 95.4.

Michigan's record against teams with all top players: 14-6
Wisconsin's record against teams with all top players: 20-3

... Like, what?

You also know that ESPN's BPI currently has Michigan ranked No. 5 in the B1G? Surely you cannot agree with that.

This system has been criticized by fans for favoring typical media darlings (i.e. Duke, Kentucky, UNC).

In short, selection committee members are allowed to use any source they please, but none use ESPNs BPI to date. What members will most commonly use is Sagarin, KenPom, RPI.

If you feel like using Sagarin... Go for it. Michigan has Wisconsin in that system. If you feel like using KenPom... Go for it. Wisconsin has Michigan in that system.

It really depends where you look, but you will not find any committee members looking at BPI on Selection Sunday. You will not find many fans looking at BPI, either. You will only see ESPNs boner patrol hitting the ceiling when they get a chance to use it and pump Kentucky (ranked No. 12, for some reason?).

He's only talking about the games against the best teams Michigan has played MINUS the worst five teams.

Or some other ridiculous shite like that. He's gone off the deep end in this thread.

That's the SOS within the BPI that you just said they shouldn't use.

I didnt say anything like that. I just noticed that Michigan had a better SOS than Wisco after I was told they didnt. Found it interesting.

But the issue is that they don't.

Not according to the RPI.

The SOS you're looking at is the SOS for the BPI which is a random ESPN bullshite stat like total QBR.

As another poster alluded to, the SOS you are referring to is built into the BPI.

This could get out of hand. Michigan is 7-10 for 3 10 minutes in.

Congrats on the BIG Championship!

I think the tourny will be interesting for them. Obviously they could go far again but they will have trouble if they run into a big who can take over a game on the glass.

Just an insane display. Illinois had held four teams in a row under 50 points. Michigan has 52 points at half. Stauskas with the bomb at the buzzer after the U-S-A U-S-A chant.
