Exactly and that's an incredibly meteoric rise in velocity over that time period and I would love to see how it compares to other tangible athletic metrics (40 time, vertical jump, etc)
Where exactly are these improvements in velocity coming from in a relatively short period of time? Is it just through advanced training techniques? The pharmacy? Genetics?
It's somewhat freakish if these velo numbers are legitimate.
very top end speed has only moved 3 or so mph difference is we now know and have known for a little while that velo can be trained unlike what we used to think.
we understand the influences on velocity, what recovery should look like and we can train those things.
anyone that doesnt think the league as a whole throws much harder and is much better is retarded maybe even more retarded than those who think the old traditional style of catching is better than 1 knee down despite all of the stats showing different
like you have to be a very low iq individual or just have a massive fricking ego to not think veloicty is way higher and pitching way better than in years past.

The same people that think Mickey Mantle hit balls 600 feet even though since Statcast
I've never heard anyone say that

I still don't get how a right handed pitcher can throw a pitch that curves to the right. I could throw a great curveball with just spinning the ball coming out of my hand naturally. I'd have to cut off my hand and put it on backwards to curve to the right.

I remember Joel Zumaya throwing 103-104 mph back in the mid-late 2000s.
It wasn’t age, but guitar hero that ended his career.

It’s harder to hit now,
That's because of spin rate not velocity.

pitching is better now than when they played
Because of speciality pitchers, like long relievers, one inning set-up guy and closers. Starting pitchers going 7 or 8 innings must less a complete game.

Now overlay Tommy Jogn surgeries.

That’s crazy thanks for posting it. Amazing how you have to guess and pray you guess right. So many pitcher throw the exact same way leaving the hand and only .08 or whatever to see and swing.

This is why Judge is the greatest hitter of all-time. He has the highest OPS against the best pitching ever. Imagine if Judge got to see pitches that Bonds and Ruth got to see. As it is, Judge is creeping toward 400 homers. Who knows what he can. He might get 50+ homers a year for the next five years. Pitching is better than ever. Bonds would be nice, but not as good as Judge or even Trout.
