totally agree.. my ex didn't need painkillers and started using opioids to feel euphoric. I didn't find out until about 7 weeks into him using them. I told him he had one day to clean up and quit that crap or we're done. He chose the drugs saying "you dont know what pain I feel" To which I blew up on him as he wasn't in any damn pain to begin with. That was 7 years ago, he died 2 years later with like 5 drugs in his system to what his brother told me. I was like...meh..oh well, he brought it on himself and he could have stopped it but HE CHOSE not to. He's dead..the drugs won.

I sincerely hope youre not being honest here, but you gave someone you supposedly “loved” that was addicted to opioids an ultimatum to stop IN ONE DAY, and then have the mindset of “oh well, tough shite, he had a chance to stop and chose that over me.” Youre a heartless and extremely ignorant count.

Hey supa

Do you work in the recovery field?

I don’t work in it but I live in it. Alcohol was my main poison though.

Isn't fentanyl what killed M.Jackson, Prince, and Tom Petty?

Propofol was in the equation with MJ. We use that stuff for people who are on ventilators to keep them sedated. Not a good idea by that MD.

Public record?

The stigma of addiction is part of the problem. No one should be embarrassed about addiction or look to blame others.

It’s a complex issue involving things brain chemistry, highly addictive substances, genetic predispositions to addiction, etc.

I think this is where the ‘line in the sand’ is in this conversation. You’re 100% correct, but the popular response to this is that somewheres along the line, choices are made (or not made) that ultimately ends up costing someone their life, which is also a true statement..

then the other side of the argument (usually someone who either has battled addiction or has been close to someone who has battled addiction) gets all bent out of shape and starts name calling and then the conversation spirals out of control

I think the answer is somewheres in the middle.. these drugs are absolutely out of control, and while I don’t have the answers, something needs to be done. On the flip side, I still belive that somewheres along the line, people need to start taking accountability for their actions and/or the actions of their loved ones and stop deflecting the blame elsewhere (the parents in this story, for example)

It’s a fricked up situation, I feel bad for those who struggle with it, and admire those who have fought through it and beat it
