Former lsu tiger mike Venus just won his first round doubles match

You have to admit Tomic was a tough guy for him to draw in the first round.
And Monfils/Sock is a tougher third round match than Istomin/Tursunov.
The more I look at Rafa's draw the more it looks like a bunch of names more than real threats. Obviously his quarter and semi draws could be easier, but the early round shite shouldn't be anything major.
If anything I think it could help Rafa who always seems to get stronger as tournaments go on and he gets in the groove. Also, if there was one takeaway I saw from his opening set against Tomic (outside of the obvious potential Tomic has that I mentioned earlier) is Rafa's serving seemed to be on fvcking point.
If he serves the way he served in his first US Open win he's unbeatable.

I agree. He's a bit of an arse, but I love his game. He'll lull you to sleep with that old-man-at-the-country-club junkball routine, and then crack a flamethrower forehand winner on you like it's nothing. He could be really really good.
Yea I saw him against Del Potro in the Sydney International Final last week and it was a total night/day match.
For the first couple of games Del Po couldn't get a damn point on Tomic's serve. He was running him all over the place, hitting right through forehands, and dominating on serve. It looked destined for a tiebreak until a couple of unforced errors lead to a break. From then on it was a beatdown.
Tomic definitely seems to have a little Murray in him, but how could some of these "your our country's only hope" guys not? He's pretty much all Australians have so I can't imagine the kind of pressure he's under.
Would like to see him do well in the future.

Dzumhur upsets Dodig in the second round. You heard it here first
I'm not one to toot my own horn.
But Toot Toot!
Little homie was down 2 sets and pulled it out.
All aboard the Dzumhur pain train!

Very impressed with how young Madison Keys has fought back in this match. Hope she can finish it off....seems like she can be very inconsistent
shite, very impressed with all these performances by young Americans
ETA: Naturally I just jinxed the hell outta her

How did Querrey thump my man Gulbis so bad? Is Querrey back on form or does Gulbis just not GAF anymore? Not that Gulbis ever GAF.

Sorry man, I was on Pospisil (again) but didn't post. I went to bed thinking I'd lost, but then he came through for me. I really like me some Pospisil. He's fast as a cat. Sometimes I think he leans too much on his movement. He knows he can scramble, so he doesn't put as much emphasis on dictating the points and moving the other guy around (a la Agassi). But I also think he's improving in this department. Either way, I thought he was a bargain the last two matches at -225 and he hasn't let me down.

Damn, I just saw where they have Serena's weight listed at 154. Is that just her legs?

Forgive me but I don't watch much tennis outside of the majors, what happened to Ryan Harrison? I heard last night he fell outside the top 100

For tonight:
Seppi-235
Grigor-200
look interesting.
Two immediate thoughts:
1) How much did the Hewitt match take out of Seppi?
1a) Does it matter?
2) How in the hell did Lu beat Ferrer in Auckland?
Those are the only considerations giving me pause. I'm still inclined to try both for size.

He's just not that good at tennis.

Maria at 6 all in the third in ridiculous conditions. They are closing the roof on the show courts at the end of these sets and stopping play elsewhere.

They could be out there another hour in this heat.
