Akili Smith is my number 1 bust. How many games he start?

Terry Baker was the NUMBER ONE OVERALL PICK.

He started ONE GAME, and it was not due to injury.

He fled to the CFL and was a bust THERE.

Injuries don't make someone a bust unless the player in question had an injury history that was over looked.

Although I wouldnt consider him a "bust" in the format of the OP, I would say Kijana Carter was a huge let down in the NFL.

He found more ways to get hurt than just about anyone. Honorable mention goes to a fellow Cinci RB, and former Wolverine, Chris Perry.

Both of those guys had the tools to have a good/great career.

If people want to use injuries to label a player a bust, then Len Bias is a megabust.

Its Russell and its not close. Consider:

1. The money, huge compared to other busts.
2. #1 over-all
3. Hold out
4. Bad attitude
5. Fat
6. Purple drank
7. Sleeping in meetings
8. Countless turnovers

AND the biggest reason is that he did last 3 years. At least other organizations moved on from busts fairly quickly, simply a bad pick but 3 YEARS of torture for the Raiders fans. Watching Russell play had to be physically exhausting.

His 3 years does nothing but enhance his bustness IMO.

he was decent his second year in the NFL and faded badly his third year when they charged coaches on him again

JR going to the Raiders was an embarrassment but in large part it was a predictable disaster IMO - he's a talented low key guy who needs stable authority figures to mentor him and keep him on track... that is exactly the opposite of what you get with the Raiders

And I'm not sure what your deal with 3 years is anyway - Leinart, Akili Smith, Alex Smith, Claussen, etc got similar length auditions... some of whom never even showed the modest potential that JR showed in his sophomore season

And finally the Raiders fans suffering has lasted around a decade now... a decade of almost as many coaching changes as years, and routine finger pointing by the owner at the player or coach he now dislikes as he forces him out... and little if any of this has much to do with JR

Raiders fans should just pick a new team to root for while Davis is alive

I'm not sure which is correct but judging from these two names, I could randomly hit my keyboard and develop a new acceptable name.

Let's try: oufosaihdf, Damn! Misspelled it!

Yeah, I looked into more specifics...

Leinart:
career rating 70.8, 5 years in the league, played in 29 games, 16/36 TD/Turnover ratio
Threw for 3900 yards.

picked 10th overall, 2nd QB (behind Young, another probable bust)

Signed for $14 MIL guaranteed OVER 5 years.

JaWalrus:
Career rating: 65.2, only 3 years in the league, played in 31 games, 19/48 TD/TO ratio
Threw for 4000 yards.

picked 1st overall, 1st QB of that class.

Signed for 31 MIL guaranteed over 6 years, (total 60MIL)

So... By what metric is Jamarcus better than Leinart? Leinart has been a dissapointment, but Jamarcus deserves the title of worst QB draft ever, IMHO.
Leinart got paid $3500 for every yard he threw for, and Jawalrus got $7500. Leinart played in roughly the same number of games, although he was a backup and only started about half of them, yet threw for nearly as many yards and TDs, and created almost half as many turnovers.
Ryan Leaf, on the other hand, had WORSE career numbers, but wasn't even the top QB taken in his year (he went behind Manning). Based on that I put Jamarcus as the worst pick all time.
