Vines starting tomorrow. Suddenly, everyone of these spot starts for these final five games becomes a “Hey, wanna start game 3?” outing.

This might be the most accurate assessment of our starting pitching mess we are in right now. And its not just game 3. Strider is not automatic and Fried less so. We are going to have to score a shite ton of runs to get out of the first round

That may have cost the Cubs the playoffs

yep that is about as gut wrenching a way to lose a game as I've seen since Brant Brown dropped a fly ball against Pittsburg in 1998 when the Cubs were in a very similar situation, fighting for a playoff spot.

The Cubs ended up getting some help to get into a playoff game with the Giants that year which they won. They will need such help again.

LOL.

You'd more rather have them then not.

If you could continue to beat the Cubs, that would be great.

Sincerely,

They have started 45 games this year and the Braves are playing .800 baseball in those games. That’s a 130 win pace. They may not be “automatic” but in games they start the Braves are significant favorites no matter who they’re playing or where.

The Dodgers were betting underdogs at Dodger Stadium 3 times this year and the games those 2 started were 2 of them.

I’m glad you keep up with the magic numbers. I look for your updates to figure out where the Braves are.

Not a problem.

Saw this on the Cubs SB Nation site:

A visit to Truist Park in Atlanta

It’s nice enough, but kind of generic.

Murphy is starting again tonight.

With a few exceptions for the last 2-3 months the two catchers have alternated starts.

Of course not! I am only trying to say that Strider and Fried will have to be almost perfect every playoff start to make up for the complete lack of anything close to them that will have to pitch in a Game 3
