With the Nats winning today, a Braves win tonight would put the Mets in sole possession of LAST PLACE in the east. That would do my heart a lot of good.

Tascano-

Kyle Wright has been transferred to Florida to continue ramping up, which is a good sign about his progress. He’s been throwing off a mound.

You'd think with all the playoff expansion MLB has done recently that it wouldn't put so much value in winning your division in favor of rewarding the best overall records, especially in this new balanced schedule era. Give the top two records in the league the byes and then seed the next four best records accordingly, regardless of division winner or wild card.

Right now, you can make the argument, at least for the NLDS, that you have better odds of getting an easier opponent as the 2 seed than the 1 seed. The way it's set up, the 1 seed gets either the 1st or 2nd wild card spots while the two seed gets either the worst division winner or the worst wild card spot. Chances are, the best team of that bunch is the 1st wild card spot.

Take us for example. As things stand now, we're either getting the Phillies or Giants as opposed to the Dodgers getting the Brewers or Marlins. Granted, the top seed gets homefield advantage in the NLCS, but that advantage only really works in the top seed's favor if both of the top 2 seeds advance.

ETA: Just looked it up. Every year since 2017, the top NL wild card team has had a better record than the worst division winner. AL has been a little bit more balanced.

Saw this on Amazin Avenue just now:

quote:

The Braves have a collection of great ball players but when it comes to business matters they are dumb as dirt. Albies is getting paid $7 million a year for the next FOUR seasons, and when he finally gets to free agency he’ll be lucky to get McNeil money. Acuna is much the same. I understand taking the security when it’s presented to you and they aren’t exactly making chump change by any means, but being that afraid to bet on one’s self borders on cowardice.

Melt you salty Muts bitch.

Exceptionally excited to see Disney/ABC/ESPN and fellow owned entities hemorrhaging money year after year. Anyone else catch that absolute abortion of an intro shitting on Atlanta in a rather creatively pathetic way? That was absolute northeastern trash. Will be listening instead of watching after that.

eta: give me the Vampire and Francouer on Bally’s over that trash

Huh? Kurkjian was on baseball tonight leading up to the game basically saying we're the best team he's ever seen in his life.

MARCELL!!!

Yeah I've noticed that baseball analysts almost universally praise this team whenever they get a chance. Opponents broadcasts rave about this lineup.

Yeah, but Kurkjian was especially complimentary of us.

Basically deepthroated us.

You talking about the black bars on the side?

ESPN does that shite when they bring the bottom line up. It's dumb.
