Chirinos followed by McHugh… it’s like we wanted to blow the lead

Doesn't matter if it's a high leverage spot and McHugh is wild as shite, it's the fifth inning so according to the Snit playbook you have to put McHugh in, there are no options. Got to save those better relievers for the later innings with nobody on base.

With howmuch we rested the pen these last two days, it makes zero sense that McHugh was our first call with the bases loaded in a 3-3 game

Why wouldn’t we continue to rest the pen? I want to win every game just like the next guy, but this game is meaningless.

Huge walk by Pillar. It means regardless of what happens here, the top of the order may get a chance in the ninth,

Pretty much. But it's the 5th inning, so Snit is only going to use McHugh or Tonkin. Dinosaur managing 101, it is what it is.

Anyone have a good link to inherited runners scored stats for bullpens these days? I know we've had a top end bullpen ERA this year, but our inherited runners allowed seems poor this year based on eye test (which is always a questionable thing to go on, hence my question). But then also, much of that could just McHugh being terrible with runners on base.

Whether it was Seitzer, Chipper or some no name in the analytics department, whoever fixed Olson on the fly midseason to where he significantly cut down on his K's but increased his HR/balls in play at the beginning of June, give that person a blank check.

That was a hell of a play by the all-star SS there.

Braves-

2B Ozzie Albies was removed from tonight’s game as a precaution with cramping in his left hamstring.

Braves have allowed 32 percent of inherited runners to score, pretty much middle of the pack in MLB.

Talent wins games. As much as I complain about Snit handling the bullpen, a manager will probably account for maybe plus or minus 5 games max over the course of a season, particularly now with the DH. Unless it's a really terrible manager maybe, which Snit is not.

Well that’s kind of a kick to the nuts to lose that by 1. Oh well hopefully Chirinos is DFA’d tomorrow.
