God if Duvall is suddenly hot too and we have that thump at the bottom of the order, look out.

Again, Heyward wasn't signed to the extension that he got because he is playing to how similar Harris is now. Heyward was expected to be a top 10 player in the game for a long time.
I don't know what you're talking about. The Braves gave him a 2 year extension, which isn't much, and it was after he'd already played 4 years, and it was quite apparent by then that he was not who we thought he would be by that time. It's the Cubs that went and gave him 180 millions dollar deal for no valid reason.
My point about Heyward was that everyone thought, coming in, that he was a franchise player. But he had some holes in his swing, and the Braves did not get ahead of themselves as they could have.
Michael Harris has reached a prospect status where he has shown to be a very similar player, and they are clearly high on him, so much so, that we have people saying they should sign him to an extension already. And I just don't think it's going to happen that fast. If he wants to take a cheap deal and not bet on himself, then sure, you go ahead and do that. I don't think that's realistic.

No one is expecting that from Harris, the extension wouldn't be as costly on the backend as it was for Heyward when it became apparent that he wasn't going to be a superstar.
I think it's quite apparent that they expect a lot, if they are pulling the trigger on calling him up this fast. But he doesn't presently hit for the type of power that makes him a superstar talent, and the league is still adjusting to him. So there is reason to be a little cautious, in my opinion.

I don't think this will be seriously considered until after 2023 unless he goes on an absolute tear in the second half of this season. I was just mentioning it because I thought it was a really interesting comment by DOB.

The speed of his call up had more to do with the fact that were platooning Arcia, Demerrite and Ozuna in the outfield.
Do they think highly of him? Obviously. But this is nothing like Heyward.

Good lord. Oakland has scored 12 runs in their past 7 games. That is brutally bad.

So we gonna let Travis pitch the 9th or Arcia?

I’d also consider re-working the Ozzie deal to add a couple million per year if he’ll agree to only hitting right handed.
Do we really think it will help that much? Regardless he hasn’t faced RHP as a RHB since he was 16 years old. Seems like it will be a major learning curve for him.
I mean, he’s never seen a slider break outside. That’s not something you pick up quickly.

I'm not sure Fried gets extended honestly. I hope he does, but they can't extend everyone long term and if he stays on this course, he will be set to get a massive payday in free agency. Kevin Gausman got 5/$110M this year. Fried is significantly better than two pitch Gausman. Someone will give him $25M+ per year.
You gotta keep your ace at all costs. They are like franchise QB's, they don't grow on trees and when you have one, you have to keep him.

I don't think he regrets it in the least. His family was poor. Any money is good.

I think a lot of it depends on how Wright, Anderson, and even Soroka look the rest of the season. I hope we keep Max but I'm just not sure if it'll happen.

You laugh but ace pitchers are extremely hard to find. Keep him at all costs.

Just over a third of the way through the season, #Braves 1B Matt Olson is on pace for 68 doubles. The MLB single-season record is 67, set by Earl Webb of the Red Sox in 1931.

I wasn't saying anything negative towards you, I was just kind of disagreeing with DOB a bit.
