Don't let Albies off the hook.
Time to make some decisions with Albies?
quote:
"No longer the Wizard of Ozzie, his range, defense, and arm strength have all declined in recent seasons," Schlossberg wrote. "Plus the Braves have potential replacements in rookie Nacho Alvarez, Jr., currently rehabbing a wrist injury, and Eli White, a fleet jack-of-all-trades filling in as the Atlanta right-fielder until Ronald Acuña returns from rehabbing a torn ACL."
Schlossberg's argument comes as Albies is dealing with likely the worst slump of his MLB career. He is hitting .233 with a career-low .657 OPS.
quote:
Hopefully Albies can fix this issue. He's 28 years old, so he shouldn't already be past his prime. But analysis on his defense like the one Schlossberg provided is concerning that maybe his best playing days are behind him.
Obviously don't think the Braves won't pick up his options, mainly because of his price tag but he should be in the prime of his career and his downward spiral doesn't seem to be turning around.

Will we shake this roster up at any point? Half of these guys have sucked for 2+ years.
Shake the roster up with what? The farm is ABSOLUTELY depleted. We have no one worth a shite in the minors anymore. We are a depleted dollar general store full of kweenz fighting each other in the aisles with loaves of moldy bread at this point.

You can trade starters. Plenty of teams will think they can fix them.

I know it’s all hyperbole. But all you could hope for is for teams to take on their salaries. Maybe try to fleece some teams. Start over and actually pay for good free agents. But then LM would set the payroll at about 90 mil.

It cannot be stated enough how much the Olson and Murphy trades blew up in our faces in terms of capitalizing on our window.

Liberty Media has created THE poverty franchise. We are them. Hope they are happy in their recent aging Interstate North Pennant Park asbestos filled building acquisitions.

Ok. Good rally. I’m sure Ozzie is going to kill it though.

Albies with the perfect game AGAIN!
Poverty Franchise.
Another team with another first vs the bArves.
Congrats to the new Pirates manager on his first win. The bArves manager has no idea what day it is

As long as the Battery makes money, they don’t care.

Allergic to .500. Gonna finish the season 80-82.
Very similar feeling to 2021 (not in anyway comparing the rosters or saying it will end the same) with the inability to get over a mental hump.
Difference is we were doing it when we got to .500 instead of when we would get to 1 game below.
We lost 18 straight games when we were at .500 attempting to get over .500 before finally winning against the Nats when we were 56-56 to get to 57-56 in August.

I am waiting to make final judgment after I see what he does when his buddy returns to the clubhouse

No lie, I had this same thought as well.
People forget how much of a wasteland the early part of 2021 was. Abraham Almonte was starting in the OF for like two weeks because he had one game where he hit 3 homers or some shite.
ETA: The problem is, and I'm not accusing you of doing this, people will think that because we turned it around in spectacular fashion 2021, that we can obviously do it again. It has to be pointed out time and time again just how much of an anomaly it was that we came back to make the postseason, let alone win the World Series.

They were talking about this yesterday on 680. Albies is a hard 28 because of all of the cumulative injuries he's suffered.
He needs to consider batting from the right side full-time.

There were warning signs with him last year too, but everyone ignored them.
I think people are finally starting to realize that last year's problems were a lot more than just injuries.

Which was pretty obvious to anyone not wearing rose colored glasses. Looks even worse with what the Mariners are now doing offensively.
Just saw a tweet saying the Marlins and Nats have both scored more runs than the Braves thus far.
